Afterlife frequency review

I thought the sound quality was flat, it didn’t help the voice of the author. It didn’t sound professional. While I enjoy personalization and stories in topics like this, his stories were loooong winded. He did have some good thoughts on karma and newtons law #3, and the importance of gratitude and not trying to control your dead people!

The graceful domes of Sacre Coeur, the imposing cathedral of Notre Dame, the breathtaking Tour Eiffel . . . Paris is overflowing with stunning architecture. Yet for Tabitha Knight, the humble building that houses the Cordon Bleu cooking school, where her friend Julia studies, is just as notable. Tabitha is always happy to sample Julia's latest creation and try to recreate dishes for her Grand-pere and Oncle Rafe.

I love the idea of looking into who Julia was, her friends, her recipes, and of course, solving crimes! I love learning facts like the underground and mushroom foraging, and hearing about the outfits, and what women wore then. I love this series of books!

Story
As Paris rediscovers its joie de vivre, Tabitha Knight, recently arrived from Detroit for an extended stay with her French grandfather, is on her own journey of discovery. Thanks to her neighbor and friend Julia Child, another ex-pat who's fallen head over heels for Paris, Tabitha is learning how to cook for her Grandpere and Oncle Rafe and Tabitha's sojourn is proving thoroughly delightful. That is, until the cold December day they return to Julia's building and learn that a body has been found in the cellar.

If you enjoyed the recent tv offerings of Julia Child’s escapades, and you enjoy murder and French accents and food (that covers everyone right?) you’ll love this book. It’s rather cozy and I will look for others by this author with the Tabitha character. Bon appetit!

Story
Masterfully blending elements of psychological suspense and true crime, Jessica Knoll—bestselling author of Luckiest Girl Alive and the writer behind the Netflix adaptation starring Mila Kunis—delivers an “unflinching and evocative” (Laura Dave, New York Times bestselling author) thriller in Bright Young Women. The book opens on a Saturday night in 1978, hours before a soon-to-be-infamous murderer descends upon a Florida sorority house with deadly results. The lives of those who survive, including a sorority president and key witness, Pamela Schumacher, are forever changed.

As an avid reader of info on serial killers of women, I found the facts mixed with fiction made for an interesting understanding of the dead women we didn’t know. I particularly liked that the killer did not get top billing. Good job!

Story
Birdie Cousins has thrown herself into the details of her daughter Chess's lavish wedding, from the floating dance floor in her Connecticut back yard to the color of the cocktail napkins. Like any mother of a bride-to-be, she is weathering the storms of excitement and chaos, tears and joy. But Birdie, a woman who prides herself on preparing for every possibility, could never have predicted the late-night phone call from Chess, abruptly announcing that she's cancelled her engagement. It's only the first hint of what will be a summer of upheavals and revelations.

I’ve never been to this island, but thoroughly enjoyed the book, the family and the story. I found it all believable (well maybe not shaving her head!) I love beach life and have lived at a few, so I liked the story. The reader didn’t bother me, at all. A solid summer beach book.

Story
Patricia Campbell's life has never felt smaller. Her ambitious husband is too busy to give her a goodbye kiss in the morning, her kids have their own lives, her senile mother-in-law needs constant care, and she's always a step behind on thank-you notes and her endless list of chores. The one thing she has to look forward to is her book club, a close-knit group of Charleston women united by their love of true crime and paperback fiction. At these meetings they're as likely to talk about the Manson family as they are marriage, motherhood, and neighborhood gossip.

I liked most of the characters, was really into the plot, but felt the end was a bit less exciting than the build up.

Southern readers- love a good story?
Reviewed: 04-19-22
I thought the story line was great, it moved along, and for the most part, the voices helped the story. I thought the narrator was a bit monotone, but the voices of the characters were full of life, and helped the plot.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book, and would recommend.
