I know this is an old book... If a man treated a woman like this today... Instead of falling in love with this "hero", I would hope the woman would win a very large court settlement and, during the process, would fall madly in love with the brave detective who helped her prove her case.

All the humor left out.!!!

Once again a Diana Palmer book is so radically abridged that almost all of the humor is left out. It also leaves the reader wondering what the heroine saw in the hero in the first place. Too bad, it's a cute book that was really quite enjoyable. The audiobooks of the old Kay Hooper romances are handled much better. Wonder what the audiobook publisher has against Ms. Palmer???

Story
Sheltered small-town girl Gretchen Brannon was utterly out of her element when she aligned herself with Sheikh Philippe Sabon, the formidable ruler of Qawi. They came from different worlds, yet she found a soul mate in the powerful, sensual man who'd suppressed his passions for far too long, and harbored a secret anguish. But he made this virtuous young woman aware of her own courage and, in turn, she aroused his sleeping senses as no other woman could.

Any additional comments?
This book as been radically abridged ( aprox 45% ) If you read the kindle version all the loose ends will be developed and tied up. Additionally, there is an entire subplot that is not present in the audible edition. One of the funniest scenes in the book is on the cutting room floor. Too bad... All in all, they have done Ms. Palmer and her readers a great disservice by leaving so much out.
Did I mention Elvis, the bombing, their separation, and how she saves the day???

Audible please come up with some better recommendations for mystery enthusiasts. I really believe, with a little effort, you could do better.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Only listened to the beginning
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of John Thomas Fraser?
Anyone - This narrator mispronounced so many words that he destroyed the audio book for me. Buy it from Kindle; it's worth a read.

Story
What should have been a brief interlude turns into something deeper when Lil Lampert meets Grier Dilorio at the Taste of Chicago. Lil is in town visiting good friends Jody Williams and Clark Stevens, and he didn’t plan to hook up with a younger man and discover a mutual love for architecture, interior design, and a unique sexual kink that keeps Lil coming back for more. By all appearances, Grier is the quintessential bad boy who loves speed, tattoos, and leather, but Lil slowly uncovers another side.

Would you try another book from Mickie B. Ashling and/or Paul Morey?
No, no, no... The total lack of inflection in Morey's voice led to me putting down this book three times. At some point I may stumble through to the end but not any time soon. I would, however, be interested in trying another of this author's works with a different reader.

Would you listen to Step on a Crack again? Why?
Having read many of James Patterson's novels with solid **** ratings and more than a few ***, I was surprised to find a novel of exceptional quality. The characterization was fantastic and the story enthralling. I don't reread may books; I could't count the number of times I have returned to this title.
What does John Slattery and Reg Rogers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excellent presentation!

What disappointed you about Xavier's Xmas?
Poor presentation of one of the author's lesser works leads to misrepresention of this author's capabilities. The publisher has done her a real disservice by providing this particular piece as the only Audible title available. If I had heard this first, I would have missed many hours of pleasent reading.
Would you be willing to try another one of Malcolm McDonald’s performances?
