Unique story style and excellent narration

A fast paced story with multiple POV. Each character tells a story in the first person. It was effective and I enjoyed it. Narration was concise and clear. A good start to a new series.

Frank Herbert's Dune is one of the grandest epics in the annals of imaginative literature. Now Herbert's son, Brian, working with Kevin J. Anderson and using Frank Herbert's own notes, reveals a pivotal epoch in the history of the Dune universe: the Butlerian Jihad, the war that was fought ten thousand years before the events of Dune - the war in which humans wrested their freedom from "thinking machines."

The central character of Serena Butler is a riveting story. But she is not alone, There is also the story of Selim the 1st worm rider. This story is part of the excellent prequel to Dune series. Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson bring the worlds long before Dune into vivid reality. The machines are totally evil but inhuman. We see how the thinking machines came to dominate. Scott Brick continues his perfect narration

A great story that features Levi Yoder and daughter Alicia
Reviewed: 09-19-24
I loved Alicia finding out what her dad really does and her introduction to The Outfit. I have read or listened to all the Levi Yoder books and Alicia is a worthy addition to the “Yoderverse”. Tim Campbell is a perfect narrator. The book is fast paced and ends very well. I’ll be reading more of Alicia’s adventures. The first book I read of Mike Rothman was “Darwin’s Cipher” and the reader can tell that he knows his science as well as being an excellent thriller writer.
