This is not a cookie cutter thriller. The two main characters’ similar childhood experiences give them a surprising bond. They deal with those traumas in very different ways and both emerge significantly changed. The narration is first rate; kept me interested and really helped me understand the characters.

The story was a twist on the mutants theme, and left me anticipating the next chapters. The narrator really made the characters come to life, emphasizing their personalities. I look forward to more work from both the author and the narrator!
