Story
Shay Remby arrives in Hollywood with $58 and a handmade knife, searching for her brother, Odin. Odin’s a brilliant hacker but a bit of a loose cannon. He and a group of radical animal-rights activists hit a Singular Corp. research lab in Eugene, Oregon. The raid was a disaster, but Odin escaped with a set of highly encrypted flash drives and a post-surgical dog. When Shay gets a frantic 3 a.m. phone call from Odin - talking about evidence of unspeakable experiments, and a ruthless corporation, and how he must hide - she’s concerned.

Did not like the narration
Reviewed: 06-01-24
I 'should have paid more attention to the readers who mentioned the mispronunciation of "Eugene", Oregon. I lived in Eugene for 4 years attending college, so hearing it mispronounced about 100 times drove me crazy. Also, the weird accents of the male characters was distracting. Then, the authors and narrators need to research Los Angeles better and have someone who knows LA listen to the story to correct mispronunciations and inaccuracies. Finally, the story did not end, just left you hanging. I guess the authors expect us to read all four books to have the story come to a conclusion. That's not the norm for series books. The story was interesting but I can't stomach listening to the narrator again.

The mispronunciations drove me crazy!
Reviewed: 05-17-23
If you are going to have a story that takes place in LA, you should make sure the reader knows how to pronounce the names of streets and other local landmarks correctly. Sepulveda, La Cienega, Gelson's and other mispronunciations were throughout the story. And really, mispronouncing Oregon! Come on. I thought the story was great and I love snarky Elvis Cole but I won't listen to a book with this narrator again.
