2/5 - Great Synopsis - Slow Story Line
Reviewed: 02-17-25
This book was one that really stood out, especially on the book shelf. Highly recommended by others, but did not live up to the hype. After the first 100 pages the expectation was that the book would hopefully pickup. After more than halfway through the book, the mundane backstory continued to drag. Names of key characters were hard to follow throughout due to the extremely long background information on each. Overall the book did not live up the its hype. Too long, not too much action for this genre type.

Story
Now, Bram Stoker's Dracula - the pinnacle of Gothic horror for generations - rises again. When young English lawyer Jonathan Harker arrives in Transylvania on the eve of Saint George's Day, he cannot shake a strange feeling of uneasiness. The air grows colder as he arrives at his destination: the castle of Count Dracula. Jonathan has been summoned by the count for business, and while he finds his new host obliging and polite, he can't help but notice the man's pallid skin, odd lack of appetite, and long daytime absences.

This was a great listen. I read alongside the masterful performance. A book not to be overlooked. As good if not better than the first book. I can’t wait for book 3 of this trilogy. Beautifully written. Thanks Patrick Rothfuss.
