Story
Wyoming, 1876. For as long as they have lived on the frontier, the Bemis and Webber families have relied on each other. With no other settlers for miles, it is a matter of survival. But when Ernest Bemis finds his wife, Cora, in a compromising situation with their neighbor, he doesn’t think of survival. In one impulsive moment, a man is dead, Ernest is off to prison, and the women left behind are divided by rage and remorse.

A wonderful gripping story
Reviewed: 11-05-20
I read quite a bit, but rarely a novel. I’m not sure how I landed on this book, but will count it as one of the most memorable in my 72 years. The story is personal, reminding me of youthful thoughts so long ago. The writing is superb shifting from one character to another with a personal narrative at just the right time each time.

I am working my way through at least one book on each President. Wilson has been the best written and narrated so far. I found myself having a hard time taking a break from the narration. I often felt as though I were in the room as events unfolded. Well written. Very well narrated.

I liked this book and would recommend it. It has a thought provoking theme. I was a bit disappointed that at times it felt like a marketing brochure for the author’s consulting firm. Nonetheless, it made an impression.
