Frustrating MC
Reviewed: 05-26-24
I wanted to like this book, it has a good storyline concept but the author’s attempt at creating suspense just became frustrating circling that could have been easily avoided with a two minute conversation. It felt empty. I listened all the way through in the hopes it would pick up and move past the immaturity but it never did.

Story
Kristen Leonard is done with setups. She’s not interested in your son or your nephew or your butcher or the guy who mows your lawn, thank you very much, grandma! After all, she’s a modern woman - she’ll take her chances on the algorithms of online dating to find her ideal man. Before long, she meets a man who might just be the one - he’s hilarious, quick-witted, and full of heart. And when she meets up with Cameron in real life, he certainly looks exactly like his profile picture...but something’s not quite right.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but gave it a chance since it’s a free credit. I really enjoyed the plot, the characters and the storyline. I even laughed out loud several times. Definitely worth the time and listen :)

Story
Half Apache and all man, Jake Redman was more than a match for the wild Arizona Territory. Sarah Conway, on the other hand, was an Eastern lady who belonged anywhere else but on the rugged land Jake loved. But beneath Sarah's ladylike demeanor beat the heart of a true pioneer, a woman he yearned to make his own.

Not her best

I’m a huge Nora Roberts fan but I was shocked how much this storyline lacked. I don’t know if it’s because she’s not used to writing historical fiction or she just had an off book but this is my least favorite book of hers so far. The narrator was pretty good.

Great narrator but story is lacking

I loved the narrator’s amazing Scottish accent and the male character was pretty well written but the female character had zero self esteem and inner dialogue that kept my eyes consistently rolling. The overall storyline is actually very good and interesting! The thing that ruins it all and why I plan to return this book is the whiny, low self esteem inner dialogue of the main character.
