Story
The scene in the West Village studio appears to be classic crime-of-passion: two wineglasses by the bed, music playing, and a young sculptor named Ariel Byrd with the back of her head bashed in. But when Dallas tracks down the wealthy Upper East Side woman who called 911, the details don’t add up. Gwen Huffman is wealthy, elegant, comforted by her handsome fiancé as she sheds tears over the trauma of finding the body - but why did it take an hour to report it? And why is she lying about little things?

A possible future for the American woman

I like the police who are the good (women and men) guys in this story about male arrogance and their need to control others and make other people slaves to their opinions. You have NO freedom unless you think the way they think you should. Religion is a smoky mirror they use to recruit and explain their intolerance of others including their attitude about women and the denied rights of others to choose how they want to live and who they love. Unfortunately, the bad men and women in this story, feel that only their opinions count and their needs are the only ones that are important.
Lt. Dallas investigates another murder with her partner Peabody and the help of the men and women she works with. Her husband, is once again supporting her efforts. As the paranoid obsessions of the bad guys take over their fear of losing control. A number of other recognizable characters, also appear in the story.

I enjoy stories, especially mysteries, about New Orleans. Add two of my favorite characters meeting who just happen to see ghosts and you've got a winning story.

Story
The annual Valentine’s Day singles soiree is always a big money-maker for Eloisa Giordono’s winery. What could be more romantic than looking for love at a quaint family vineyard on the most romantic night of year? Well, just about anything as far as Eloisa is concerned. She’s a Valentine’s Day Grinch who thinks it’s the lamest, most clichéd holiday ever invented. But Eloisa is thrown for a loop when a sexy, self-described hopeless romantic shows up at the singles soiree and keeps her captivated.

This was a a fun read with humor, romance, mystery and great characters. The women were spunky and the men kept trying to be honourable good guys which made them real heroes. You have to enjoy reading about men with integrity. So few seem to have it these days.

When Autumn and her mother, Joanna, take her father's ashes to be buried in the family plot in Brickers Bowl, Georgia, she witnesses a horrifying sight: her grandmother and two uncles, burying a pile of dead bodies in the middle of the night.

The story or I should say stories are excellent. I enjoyed this audio version but a little more volume would have been appreciated. I'm not big on using head phones if I don't have to and with my Fire, I can usually enjoy listening to audio books while doing something a few feet away without them. I recently listen to Paradox without any problems.

Story
Sarah Garland, a retired homicide detective who's gone through a painful divorce, seems to have found her peace at last, as a coffeeshop owner in the sleepy (and freezing) small town of Snow Falls, Alaska. What she didn't expect was for her past life to catch up with her. Or for her new life as a mystery writer to inspire a deadly killer to target her.
