Surviving 60,000 years takes cunning and more than a little luck. But in the 21st century, Adam confronts new dangers - someone has found out what he is, a demon is after him, and he has run out of places to hide. Worst of all, he has had entirely too much to drink.

Where does Immortal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I typically listen to sci-fi and this was a deviation for me. This is one of my favorite non sci-fi listens ever.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Immortal?
Not one moment, but throughout the book the comparing and contrasting past to present in ways that made me think. This book made me ponder the idea of being immortal, seeing civilization come to be, witnessing everyone you've ever know die, and seeing history repeat itself over and over.
Have you listened to any of Steve Carlson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not. I found him easy to listen to though at times I would have inferred different inflection and tone from the text.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not extreme but I did laugh out loud a couple of times. Mostly this book made me think. The story is good and held my interest but what I remember most is thinking about life and how short and fragile it is.
Any additional comments?
If you're into sci-fi and would like to venture out, this book may do the trick. I've tried other fantasy and mystery novels with little success, I found this book suited my tastes perfectly.

Story
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Where does 14 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's in the top tier. I believe it was categorized under mystery or fantasy, It's more science fiction to me. (Weird Fiction is the most fitting name) Sci-fi fans should not be afraid, this book is great, though it takes a while to get to the really cool science stuff.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nate, the main character is hard not to like but I think Tim's secret past made him more entertaining.
What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration was above average, I'm not sure what it added though. It would have been better if the character voices were a little more discernible. All the women sounded the same, and not very feminine. This is not a reason to avoid, I'm just nit-picking!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
If we can count on you - Scooby Doo - I know we'll catch that villain!

Story
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Entertaining Story!
Reviewed: 02-05-13
What made the experience of listening to Ready Player One the most enjoyable?
The '80s references as a means of telling the story was the thrill for me. The story itself holds it's own which is why it's worthy of 5 stars, but as a child of the '80s I found this book entertaining on many levels.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character, Wade, is the only one developed enough to be considered a favorite. The other 2 possible choices are Artemis and H. Artemis is too annoying and self centered and H is plausible but you have to go with the hero and not his friend/competitor.
What about Wil Wheaton’s performance did you like?
I've listened to a bunch of Wil's performances, mostly the Scalzi books. This one is consistent with those. Wil's take on a character's emotions isn't always the same as mine so I find myself replaying dialog in my head in a tone of understanding instead of annoyance, or sincerity instead of sarcasm. Overall, having Ensign Crusher narrate the book added to the '80s charm.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Not sure about a tag line but someone should make this movie!!!
Any additional comments?
Good fun book especially for those who grew up with video arcades and home computers. The overall story has some holes and flaws but nothing that can't be overlooked. Don't miss this one, it's worth your time!

Story
Low-level entertainment lawyer Nick Carter thinks it's a prank, not an alien encounter, when a redheaded mullah and a curvaceous nun show up at his office. But Frampton and Carly are highly advanced (if bumbling) extraterrestrials. And boy, do they have news. The entire cosmos, they tell him, has been hopelessly hooked on humanity's music ever since "Year Zero" (1977 to us), when American pop songs first reached alien ears. This addiction has driven a vast intergalactic society to commit the biggest copyright violation since the Big Bang.

Great, timely book
Reviewed: 09-24-12
Would you listen to Year Zero again? Why?
Yes, I may listen one more time to pick up on some details I may have missed the first time. The book has lots of timely pop culture references so I'm not sure how long it's relevance will last, but it will always be a good snapshot of the time it was written.
What did you like best about this story?
The theory that american pop music is the single best thing in the universe, and how that fact shapes the whole story. And realizing later that it's a metaphor for how the RIAA actually feels about american pop music.
Which scene was your favorite?
Nicks first travel through a wrinkle. The descriptions painted a great picture of something you couldn't otherwise imagine.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It's tie-in to the actual music industry. Calculating the astronomical sums of money owed to the RIAA painted a great picture of how overwhelming the fines can be.
