I felt it a as balanced because it was was wriitten by a born Zionist who had been in the IDF. Very compelling. He saw both sides . Religious strife is the bane of mankind.

Presenting decades of serious statistical study as well as various racial conflicts globally Thomas Sowell gives us a seriously different take on "racism". Yes races have had their set backs and difficulties but in the long run it seems that the chief advantage or disadvantage lies in our own adoptive culture. "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars. But in ourselves..." it seems.

Any black or brown person's only instruction here is "Golly we've SOOO much to be upset about!" Just as helpful today as Mein Kampf was to German youth in the 1930's. Thomas Sowell's writings provide a very lucid explanation for the difficulties presented to the black person today w/o a purely hapless world view. Where does Maude rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am partial to great historical figures in biography. This is a singular story of one female who longed for more though braved on within her limits...

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maude

Which character – as performed by Shana Gagnon – was your favorite?

I felt she portrayed Maude well

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The entire story

Any additional comments?

Alas, we are all too encompassed about with weakness!

Where does Kokoda rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among histories of valor, courage, tenacity, and endurance in battle I cannot think of any greater or more terrible.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Kokoda?

One of the most outstanding things about this story was how completely ignorant, arrogant, and even criminal the top brass was in relation to the situation on the ground for these boys. These boys caught it from both sides, yet held up.

Have you listened to any of Lewis FitzGerald’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Mr. Fitzgerald does a great job reading. He is not given to melodramatic tones as some macho war story readers are. His is a masculine voice that does not lack and needs no overstatement. The recording studio makes use of some dramatic effects which are a little over done.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Bugger all!

Any additional comments?

This is an amazing story of some of the greatest heroism of that generation who resisted the sinister, dreadful axis powers of WWII. These blokes embody the highest of warrior virtues. They simply would not quit and resisted death and surrender to the utmost. These guys were above and beyond heroic! Hats off to them.

classic reader of the very best sort. this is one you can put in your pipe and smoke for a while, go over again. think about, not a quick read, only a must read and study...

Would you consider the audio edition of A World Undone to be better than the print version?

If I had the time and temperament to sit and read this book i would choose the print version, especially on account of the battle maps. Pondering the depth and scope of wwi's subsequent impact on humanity is worthy of many hours reading and study at hearth side and this is one of the best vehicles whereby to so deliberate.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A World Undone?

explaining some of the back ground the groups such as the "black hand" who conspired to kill the Austrian Duke, explaining why the Duke felt he needed to be in Sarajevo at that time... explaining the initial war mobilization plans that each country felt it had to invoke, explaining earlier diplomatic and economic events that lead each country feel that they needed to be emphatic in their respective postures as August 1918 approached... I'm sure I could count many more on careful reflection.

What about Robin Sachs’s performance did you like?

very apt. I felt as if the author himself was reading the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

what fools these mortals be!

Any additional comments?

This book attempts to explain all angles of wwi very carefully and may be the best book of its kind to address the subject.. In many ways wwi is the most important event of the 20th century. Mr. Meyer gives us extraordinary depth and breadth exploring fine points of the leaders' lives of all the major countries, economic considerations, strategic theories, and so on... I do not have the time to sit and read a volume such as this but i often wished i had the book in hand to more carefully study the battle maps... I found it interesting and easy to listen to all the way through. I may well buy the book and am planning to listen to it at least one more time. If you're interested in history this one is a must.

Would you listen to Steve Jobs again? Why?

NO, BECAUSE JOBS IS TOO BLEAK OF A PERSONALITY.

Who was your favorite character and why?

JOBS

What does Dylan Baker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

GOOD READER

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

NO

Any additional comments?

AN IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION TO THE EXTRAORDINARY HISTORY OF AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL CREATIVITY.

I'VE NEVER BOUGHT AN APPLE BECAUSE THEY TRY NOT TO OPEN UP TO OPEN SOFTWARE CONTRIBUTIONS. VERY INTERESTING AS TO THE DEMONIC DRIVE THAT COULD BE CALLED CREATIVE GENIUS. OBVIOUSLY JOBS HAS FATHERED AN OUTSTANDINGLY SUCCESSFUL COMPANY BUT AS A PERSON HE'S AS BLEAK AS THE SIBERIAN STEPPES. AFTER READING THE BOOK I HAVE ONE MORE REASON NOT TO BUY APPLE BUT I UNDERSTAND BETTER AS TO WHY SO MANY ARE SO ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS.
