Story
“Even now, nearly a century after her death, Marie Curie remains the only female scientist most people can name,” writes Dava Sobel at the opening of her shining portrait of the sole Nobel laureate decorated in two separate fields of science—Physics in 1903 with her husband Pierre and Chemistry by herself in 1911. And yet, Sobel makes clear, as brilliant and creative as she was in the laboratory, Marie Curie was equally passionate outside it.

It was an okay read…

I thought The Elements of Marie Curie was okay… not bad, but nothing new to phone home about. It covered some interesting aspects of Curie’s work and legacy, but it didn’t feel particularly groundbreaking or engaging. The writing was fine, but it didn’t draw me in as much as I’d hoped.

Story
In February 1959, a group of nine experienced hikers in the Russian Ural Mountains died mysteriously on an elevation known as Dead Mountain. Eerie aspects of the incident—unexplained violent injuries, signs that they cut open and fled the tent without proper clothing or shoes, a strange final photograph taken by one of the hikers, and elevated levels of radiation found on some of their clothes—have led to decades of speculation over what really happened.

This was a great informative, imaginative read. Very fascinating and informative information presented. A unique interpretation of the facts in this cold case. I highly recommend reading this book.

Story
April 25, 1986 in Chernobyl was a turning point in world history. The disaster not only changed the world’s perception of nuclear power and the science that spawned it, but also our understanding of the planet’s delicate ecology. With the images of the abandoned homes and playgrounds beyond the barbed wire of the 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone, the rusting graveyards of contaminated trucks and helicopters, the farmland lashed with black rain, the event fixed for all time the notion of radiation as an invisible killer.

Boring… with nothing new offered on the topic

Boring as hell and did not offer much new or unknown information than other book out there on the same topic. Write style was easy to read and follow.
