What a roller coaster of a ride this book was. The narrator making the story even more real to me. I couldn’t put the book down! I felt the sorrow and the pain, happiness and joy listening through tears and laughter, anticipating…wanting to hear the next chapter! Great work and I loved it!

Having recently been reading, well listening to the Bobiverse books, I was struck by the very basic similar premise of a cryogenically frozen person being revived into an virtual reality/Quantum Computer. But the similarities end there. Both the Bobiverse and this this book owe the concept to Larry Niven's "A World Out Of Time" a book I first read almost 50 years ago.

I won't get into story or plot details as I hate giving spoilers away and others can write a better synopsis that I can.

I will say that I throughly enjoyed the book. the performances by Luke Kirby and Brendan Frasier were both great. as were the other voice actors.

The story was good and done in an interview fashion where you never hear the interviewer or their questions, but allows for multiple character point of views of the same events.

I do hope there's a sequel to this as I'd like to know what happened to the characters.

Be prepared to have your heart wrench for the main character. This story was, at so many times, difficult to get through. But I’m glad I read it because it had some real thought provoking parts to it. But I’m not sure if I would recommend it to anyone. It was a spiraling roller coaster with a predictable end (even though I wished differently). Too much sorrow for me. Narrator was great. Book good.

This is my 1st book by Brene Brown, and I found the advice good in some aspects, but you might get a bit lost if you haven't read any of her other books.

There are stories taken from her own life as well as those of her clients and other followers of her work.

I enjoyed her performance and she's definietly forthright and can be in your face a bit.

Another excellent story from Preston and Child. A solid follow-up to Bloodless and The Cabinet of Curiosities. I thought the narrator was fine, though I didn't quite care for his take on A.X.L. Pendergast's voice. I'll admit the end had me going WTF, and it seemed a bit too soap-operish for my taste. I could practily hear the DUH DuH Duh music swelling in my head as if i was watching a soap opera on TV. As a fan since the Relic first hit the shelves I can't wait for the next one.

A funny noirish take on celebrity and fans

A fictionalized account of a fan stalking actor Brent Spiner during the 4th season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It's written as a semi-autobiographical Noir style mystery replete with danger, sex, drugs, and a lot of humor. Most of it the self deprecating kind by Mr. Spiner. I found myself laughing more than I expected. Now I have no way of knowing what if any of this may be true but there's certain aspects that certainly ring true.

I listened to the Audible edition which I think in this case is the way to go.

As in any noirish mystery there's a fair amount of sexualization of the female characters, especially Cindy Lou and Candy Lou Jones identical twin sisters that serve as Spiner's FBI agent and personal bodyguard (both of whom have the hots for him). This love triangle takes up a significant portion of the plot but always in service to the story.

The Audiobook shines with the inclusion of the Next gen cast adding their distinctive voices to the their characters. There's red herrings galore and you'll be guessing as to who the stalker really is, but it's not really that hard to figure out if you've read enough mystery/crime fiction.

Plot is a bit weak and meandering with some flashbacks to Spiner's youth. But it is worth a listen.

I have been an avid amateur astronomer for most of my life, and while I knew a lot of what was covered in the book, I found the details very interesting.

Before I read (listened) to the book, I had no idea about the lives behind the names I'd lived with for a good long time. Learning about how Henry Draper's legacy was expanded upon and how women were vital to the early days of scientific astronomy was eye opening.

This is more than just a look at these women "computers" or even just a Harvard observatory's role in astronomy, it's a great history of the early days of astronomy in general.

My only complaints are that I didn't always get a feel for these women's lives, feelings, etc... It was a bit dry in that respect. I also imagine that the physical book had a lot of pictures that obviously the audio book can't have. I will have to search for a physical copy for my library.

A first person/demon's perspective on life.

I have been a fan of Clive Barker's for a long time now. Mr. B. Gone is a funny, ofttimes horrifying look at the life of a low level demon from the 9th circle of hell.

Told in the first person, the demon, named Jackabob Botch (who knew demons had such names), gets captured by some demon hunters and winds up in the world above (Earth). That's where the fun begins.

Narrated by Doug Bradley, who plays the cenobite Pinhead in the Hellraiser movies, us fantastic. Bradley uses different voices for the various characters and adds a dimension to the story that other narrators might have missed.

The only downside to the audiobook over a hardcopy, is Jackabob's frequent entreaties to burn the book you're reading really don't translate well. But it's a minor nit to pick.

Read, or listen to the book. You won't be disappointed in either case.
