Overview of benefits, not a how-to
Reviewed: 01-13-17
I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.
This audiobook was not really a tutorial in mindfulness as it did not offer specific techniques for achieving mindfulness. The author did touch briefly upon different types of mindfulness exercises, but the main focus was an overview of how mindfulness can benefit your life. Would probably give 4 stars if the audiobook was titled properly - maybe "Introductory Overview of Mindfulness."

A Stand Out in the World of Business Books!

full disclosure: I received this audiobook at no cost in exchange for leaving an honest review.
All I expected from this book was to possible pick up a few useful tips as I start my business, but what it delivered was far greater. The authors took a refreshing approach to isolating useful characteristics for business owner to have and went on to develop a methodological framework (borrowing from others that they acknowledge) for business owners to assess and, if needed, improve upon these qualities. Well worth the listen, especially for new business owners.

Story
This book is going to teach you how to overcome the obstacles that stand between you and succeeding in convincing others to your way of thinking. It will take a look at what arguing actually is in order to gain a better understanding of how to do it well and efficiently, tackle the prickly issue of just how ethical it is to persuade someone, and look at the different ways in which we fail in our arguments, both in winning and occasionally in reaching a decent resolution without devolving into fighting.

Great Book For Anyone

a good introductory overview

Full disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for providing an honest review.
This is a good introductory overview for people who are interested in debate (both formal and casual). It is an ethics-friendly guide that discusses both substantive and dramatic aspects in a fairly clear and straightforward manner. There is nothing groundbreaking to be found, and some of the logical explanations move quickly, because it is meant as just an overview, but all in all a nice introduction or refresher.

Useful framework with provocative details

Full disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for providing an honest review here.
I am the proud father of one baby girl, so I am a while out from tweenhood or teenhood, but I want to know what I can since now to help her out. The first half of the book is a diagnosis of cultural ills that make tween-to-teen years difficult for girls. I found this introduction to be a bit rehearsed and long winded, though I thought that many of the points were fair and important enough. The latter half of the book is the goldmine wherein Fleshood explains her use of ritualistic rites of passage to combat negative influences and attitudes. Real world examples come from successes she's had in her therapy practice, and some of them are truly uplifting and theft worthy! I will definitely use some of these techniques as my little one grows.
The narration is not as engaging as the story being told, but worth paying attention to anyways.

Informative, concise overview of ITSM

Full Disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
This quickstart guide is great for beginners - people starting in ITSM and people with some interest who know nothing about ITSM. I fell into the latter category, my wife and a couple friends work in ITSM so I downloaded this guide to see if it would help would help give me a rough understanding of that aspect of their lives. It did give me a much better understanding of the various aspects of what they do by providing a technical/systematic overview of the field and discussing some of the personal, social, and experiential facets of working in ITSM. It also introduced me to a side of business that I expect will be helpful to me as an aspiring entrepreneur.
The examples were useful and inserted with just the right frequency, and the narration was fantastic at engaging beginners enough to draw them into some of the interesting nuances of the field without being overly technical or pretentious. The publishers also offer a satisfaction-or-refund guarantee so there's not much to lose. Bottom line: a good place to start in the ITSM literature, well worth the current price of $5.

Story
Boost your chances of getting the job by 30-40 percent just by asking two simple, strategic questions in the interview. Hiring managers love to interview potential employees who ask questions. They see these candidates as more enthusiastic, intelligent, and relatable. Both questions help you get inside the hiring manager's head to find out what he or she really thinks of you as a potential employee and raises the chances of getting the offer by 30%-40%. If you want the offer, you need to know these questions and get comfortable with asking them.

Nothing terribly industry-changing, just two questions to ask during the interview and a brief explanation of why they are important. Still, I am confident they will help and glad that the author did not waste time trying to make the work longer, and that it was a low price (I bought it with membership for about $2).

A good amount of common sense mixed with some truly insightful advice. The most valuable contribution of this book is its ability to offer an employer's perspective, especially the explication of employer concerns driving common interview questions. I even returned a "good interview answers" book because I though this audio book covered the bases pretty well.
It also helped me to take an employer's frame of mind while tailoring my resume (though this is not an area that is addressed in particular).
