She Finally Woke Up
Reviewed: 10-03-23
Will never understand how it was not obvious that Trump was a dangerous, selfish, mentally ill (narcissism is a mental illness) man from the very beginning. She is not alone. Millions more to go. Unfortunately it often takes him trampling someone to the ground or him encouraging a horrible act of violence before they figure it out.
A fascinating read if you really want to know what happened in that horror of a White House.

Story
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

Good but the Terrible Narration is Distracting
Reviewed: 08-11-23
This was a very detailed account of the Weinstein abuse scandal. You see the meticulously hard work of Farrow and how he brought the truth to light.
The only negative is Farrow's narration. Why he thought he needed to change voices and accents when someone else was speaking is beyond me. It is just awful. He is no voice impressionist and his foreign accents are terrible. It ends up sounding ridiculous. Ronan needs to stick to his amazing writing skills and NEVER attempt impressions.

Story
The Great Peace is a harrowing, heartbreaking coming-of-age story set in Hollywood, in which young teenage model-turned-actor Mena Suvari lost herself to sex, drugs, and bad, often abusive relationships even as blockbuster movies made her famous. It's about growing up in the '90s, with a soundtrack ranging from The Doors to Deee-Lite, fashion from denim to Day-Glo, and a woman dealing with the lasting psychological scars of abuse, yet knowing deep inside she desires so much more from life.

Meh.....Skip This One..... Needs a rewrite.

Shocked at all the 5 star reviews. This is not the bravery or honesty of Rose McGowan or Corey Feldman. Nowhere near as interesting as Jennifer Grey, Rob Lowe and other true Hollywood stories. Very one dimensional writing with no depth or growth. Describes bad relationships but never gets to the heart of any of it.
The first few chapters are all the same. Hollywood kid on drugs goes to raves and hooks up with guys. Hook up becomes lengthy relationship with someone who treats her bad. Rinse, repeat. She vaguely describes a terrible relationship and then moves on quickly to the the next bad relationship. Couldn't finish it.
Not even interesting when she talks of working on her films.
Thankfully got my credit back.

Story
The law of attraction is based on the idea that everything in the universe has a polarity, meaning that everything contains either a positive or a negative kind of energy. When you focus on negative stuff, then more negative stuff will happen to you. On the other hand, when you focus on positive stuff, then more positive stuff will happen to you. Fortunately, there is a way to manipulate the law of attraction and make it work for you.

Negative thoughts come to mind with some phrases
Reviewed: 09-09-21
Glad I listened to this first. Several phrases he used bothered me.
"I am thankful to be alive." First thought that popped in my mind when hearing that was death (and it is said in kind of a creepy tone too which does not help). A simple "thank you for my life" would have been more appropriate.
"I have fears but I have enough courage to face all those." Do they need to be reminded of that during a positive affirmation? He also talks of making mistakes and the troubles they are bound to have.....Now I realize that our children will have fears and face challenges but no need to remind so clearly. Part of it is the order of the phrase. "I can face all of my fears" is a phrase that is a lot more positive then reinforcing "I have fears BUT...." right in the beginning of a sentence. Overall his choice of phrases and word order is lacking.
I also did not like the "I will Obey my parents Will" phrase. Ick! Seriously reminded me of horror show movies of over-dominating, abusive parents. Again.....felt creepy. "I will listen to my parents as they have my best interest at heart." or "I will be polite to my parents etc." would have been much more appropriate. Pass on this one.
