Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Grateful to hear his version of events
Reviewed: 03-03-23
It was refreshing to hear Prince Harry’s version of his story from his perspective. It is his truth, and it is a valid one. I’m sure no one has a 100% accurate version of events of their life but I truly appreciate listening to Prince Harry sharing his. I can’t imagine living under the scrutiny that all the members of the royal family have to deal with and it is complete rubbish that the tabloid media gets away with torturing their targets like they do. The public that buys and consumes the media’s garbage is equally to blame. If no one was buying their “product,” paparazzi wouldn’t have the incentive that hey do to harass and destroy people’s private peace. Listening to Harry’s voice as he retold his story was a pleasure. I’m guessing the majority of people leaving negative reviews find the tabloid media stories fine literature 🤣.

Story
We're all infected with a spiritual disease. Its name is shame. Whether we realize it or not, shame affects every aspect of our personal lives and vocational endeavors. It seeks to destroy our identity in Christ, replacing it with a damaged version of ourselves that results in unhealed pain and brokenness. But God is telling a different story for your life. Psychiatrist Curt Thompson unpacks the soul of shame, revealing its ubiquitous nature and neurobiological roots. He also provides the theological and practical tools necessary to dismantle shame.

This is a deep work, well delivered, that I found extremely helpful in navigating the quite confusing landscape of the journey of this life when shame is at work. The narrator was beyond excellent.

Story
Following the framework of Jesus' earthly life, Fadling shows how the work of "unhurrying" ourselves is central to our spiritual development in such pivotal areas as resisting temptation, caring for others, praying and making disciples. Here is a book that affirms that we are called to work and to do work. Productivity is not a sin - it is the attitudes behind our work that can be our undoing.

Wonderful, recollected work of the utmost practicality. This, in my little opinion, is probably the most needed message of our times in the United States, for out of unhurried time with Jesus, as Fadling describes, will flow an immense river of love and goodness all over the world.
I too have led retreats by the “one-third” rule and have experienced the richest of blessings.

Brother Lawrence decided that he needed to concentrate on a simple idea: loving God in whatever he did. Story
The Spiritual Combat is considered one of the two greatest ascetic classics, the other being The Imitation of Christ. The authors of both are shrouded in mystery. There are many 17th-century editions which have the name Spanish Benedictine, John of Castanzia. Some Jesuit writers have ascribed the book to the Jesuit Achilles Gagliardi. However, most critics consider Fr. Lawrence Scupoli the author.

This work is an excellent guide for navigating and engaging in the unseen warfare that comes with spiritual growth in Christ. Fantastically narrated, I deeply appreciated the poignant warnings, as well as the clear and practical advice given to fight this good fight. I will definitely be referencing this masterwork quite often the rest of my days, no doubt.

Story
Dallas Willard was a personal mentor and inspiration to hundreds of pastors, philosophers, and average churchgoers. His presence and ideas rippled through the lives of many prominent leaders and authors, such as John Ortberg, Richard Foster, James Bryan Smith, Paula Huston, and J. P. Moreland. As a result of these relationships and the books he wrote, he fundamentally altered the way tens of thousands of Christians have understood and experienced the spiritual life.
