その“答え”として私なりにたどり着いたのが、本書のタイトルにある「心を道具化する技術」です。
文字面だけを見ると、「何事にも反応しない機械のような心の持ち主を目指す本」だと誤解されそうですが、そうではありません。
私が本書を通じてお伝えしたいのは「心が人間にとっての“大切な道具”であることを認識し、人生をより良く楽しく生きるために使いこなす技術」です。
さらに言えば、その「心を道具化する技術」を通じて「本当の自分」を強く意識し、今後の成長の土台となる「自分自身の取扱説明書」を手に入れてもらうことです。
私自身は心の専門家でも何でもありませんが、40代で連隊長になって以降、メンタル面で悩む部下たちをケアする機会が増え、時には自衛隊OBや外部から相談者を紹介されることもありました。
そして、その経験を通じて、私なりに「心」に対する考えが整理され、人間の心にはその人固有の傾向もあるけれど、ある程度共通する現象や悩みの解決法があることもわかってきました。

小川清史(おがわ・きよし)
昭和35年生まれ。徳島県出身。防衛大学校第26期生、土木工学専攻・陸上自衛隊幹部学校、第36期指揮幕僚課程。米陸軍歩兵学校および指揮幕僚大学留学。
主要職歴(自衛隊)レンジャー教官歴4年間、うち主任教官歴3年間。第8普通科連隊長兼米子駐屯地司令、自衛隊東京地方協力本部長、陸上幕僚監部装備部長、第6師団長、陸上自衛隊幹部学校長、西部方面総監(最終補職)。退職時の階級は「陸将」。
現在、一般社団法人救国シンクタンク客員研究員。全国防衛協会連合会常任理事。東部防衛協会理事長。
日課として、毎朝マンデリン(珈琲)をドリップで淹れること。
趣味:合氣道、イラスト描き、書道、茶道。
