 ある日、よだかのところへ、たかがやってきて、名前を変えるようにと言う。おまえみたいなみにくい鳥の仲間だと思われたくないというのだ。日頃から鳥たちに馬鹿にされてきたよだかは、どうして自分だけがこんなめにあうのだろうとなげく。自分はなんにも悪いことはしていないのに。そのときよだかの口のなかにカブトムシが飛び込んできてもがく。そのとき、よだかは、自分が加害者でもあったことに気が付く。そして・・・。自分が食物としているものへの思いやりを持ったのでは心安く生きてはいけないことを突き付けられたよだかの心情を描くことで、作者は人間の宿命をも描いているのだろう。©2023 南郷 芳明 Genre Fiction Literary Fiction
