＜あらすじ＞
盗人である鬼鮫は、自分のことを「酷薄無残で、なさけ知らずで、いちどこうと思えば女であろうと童児であろうと、平気で打ち殺し、八つ裂きにすることのできる人間」だと豪語する。彼は民から搾取する貴族を自分と同じ盗人と呼び、貴族の財宝を狙う偸盗であるが、なぜか失敗ばかりしてしまう。ある日、鬼鮫は中将の末の娘である十五歳の品子を誘拐し、身の代金を要求する。品子は美貌と才に恵まれ、ゆくゆくは東宮のきさきに召されると噂だという。だが誘拐してきた品子は、とんでもないばくれんものだった……。
