第六回の課題図書は、2016年に没後100年を迎える夏目漱石の『吾輩は猫である』（新潮文庫）を取り上げます。漱石の処女作であるこの超ロングセラー文学は、中学の英語教師・珍野苦沙弥（ちんのくしゃみ）家に飼われている名前のない猫「吾輩」の視点から、人間社会をユーモアたっぷりに描いた名作です。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
今回の“一緒に読む人”は、作家の町田康さん、そして “読書クラブ”の部長として会を進行してくださるのは、翻訳家の都甲幸治さん。『猫にかまけて』『スピンク日記』など動物が登場する作品を書き、現代文学に最先端の「笑い」をちりばめ新しい日本語文学を確立した町田さんは、夏目漱石という先達をどう読むのか？　果たして文学における「笑い」とは、「救い」とは何なのか？　近代文学の起源に立ち返って、町田さんと一緒に考えていきます。
