「発達性トラウマ(Developmental Trauma)」とは、複雑性PTSDの原因となる、子ども時代に負ったトラウマのことです。
家庭や学校などで負った慢性的な(反復性)ストレスがトラウマを生み、複雑性PTSDの原因となることがとても多いのです。
そのため、発達性トラウマは、私たちが抱える生きづらさの原因を明らかにするものとして近年注目されています。
「発達性トラウマ」あるいは「トラウマ」という概念から生きづらさを眺めてみると、

これまではトラウマというと、戦争や災害、レイプといった、ある限定された状況による症状(PTSD)というイメージでしたが、そうしたものとトラウマの全貌は異なります。
本書では、近年の知見や現場での経験、体験をもとに、読者が感じているかもしれない生きづらさを、
トラウマ(発達性トラウマ)という視点から照らしてみたいと思います。
トラウマの原因として、従来は劇的な出来事に焦点が当たり、
より身近な日常的にあるトラウマに苦しむ人たちには適切な知識やケアが届いていませんでした。
身近なトラウマも、それぞれに抱える生きづらさは深刻です。
そうした問題意識から、本書ではよくある身近なお困りごと、生きづらさを中心に取り上げています。
身近なトラウマがわかると、劇的な出来事も含むトラウマ全体についても見通しが付きやすくなります。
本書は、「発達性トラウマ」というタイトルですが、もちろん成人してから受けるストレスも含めた
トラウマ全体のものとしてもお読みいただけます。
トラウマとはストレス障害と捉えられます。決して特別な事象ではありません。
誰しも人生の中でストレスが重なってバランスを崩すことは生じます。
また、もう一つの特徴であるハラスメントについてもその仕組みが広く知られる必要があります。
そこには人間が持つ他人を巻き込んで実存を維持しようとする営みやコミュニケーションの構造が隠れています。
自己の不全感をかりそめに満たすために他者を支配しようとする働きを人は誰しも持っています。
ハラスメントの仕組みがわかると、互いの違いや多様性を尊重して関わり合うための大切な視点を得ることができます。
さらに、生きづらさの多くが本来は社会からもたらされるものです。
そんな生きづらさが過度に個人化されがちな現代にあって、それを被る側の内的なメカニズムが明らかになることで、生きづらさを切り分けてもう一度社会に押し返す力にもなり得ます。
