About this listen
往古より落合村小名中井の鎮守で武門貴族の崇敬が厚かった。特に安産守護子育の神として霊験灼然で武蔵風土記に「御霊社はおびしゃ祭を行う」と記載され、又六の日に安産の祈祷をなし古来神前の紅白の帛付を頒ち紅布を得れば女子、白布を授かれば男児を拳ぐべしとの言い伝えがある。現在も遠近より妊婦の参詣祈祷をする者が多い。境内を中心とした高台は落合遺跡として無土器文化の遠い時代から縄文、弥生、土師と一万年以上の長い期間、衣住ともに狩猟、漁撈の漂白生活を送った古代人がこの台地を居住適地と選んで集落を継続した。その遺跡が複合し出土品も多く、この中には先住民族が祭祀を司った斎場や祭具が発掘された。この古代原始宗教の斎場が尊い土地として後世に伝えられた場所が現在の境内社地である。
