About this listen

French-born author Elena Mauli Shapiro vividly recreates Paris during World War I in this captivating novel. 13 Rue Thérèse follows Trevor Stratton, an American academic working in Paris who discovers a keepsake box dated back to the Great War. The box, Trevor discovers, belonged to a piano teacher named Louise Brunet. Inside it are mementos that give Trevor clues to Louise’s life, including the love she lost in the war and her affair with a neighbor. Mesmerized, Trevor begins to imagine what life was like for the mysterious Frenchwoman.

Is Something Missing?

The book is well written, and intriguing, but a little confusing as it jumps back and forth from the character's era to the historian's era. As I got deeper into the story, and really hooked, it ended abruptly ... or am I missing something? It was rather disappointing, but the story did not seem complete, it just ended without a conclusion. It was, unfortunately, very unsatisfying.

What the……

What was that???

Bored Housewife Fantasies? Time Travel? Historical Fiction? Mystery?

Maybe it’s just me but I just didn’t get it.

Better to read than to listen

This book has an intriguing premise but does not work as an audio book because you can not see the artifacts that are the objects that trigger the story, as you can in the kindle or printed version. It simply does not work as an audio book because of this.
