About this listen
You will find thoughts to ponder that will spur you on to having more happiness and joy in life. That is the purpose of this book, it is what I want to accomplish. My desire is to help lift you up so you can enjoy life more than perhaps you are.
I chose the quotes for this book because they meant something to me. After considering these quotes and their messages, I felt more happiness and joy.
I was in a bad spot.
A very ugly place.
I needed some help, some positivity and inspiration.
I lost my Dad and it was unexpected. He was 94 and had health problems, but there was no eminent threat or indication that death was soon coming. He was vigorous and doctors were in awe of him. In December, he was fine, then by mid-February he was gone.
I went into a three-year spiral of grief, of deep sadness. I acted normal when I saw friends, but I wasn’t. I avoided people as much as I could.
The first spring and summer after his passing all I could do was go through the motions of life. I sat in a chair all day and mostly did nothing for months and months. I read some, listened to the radio. Mostly slept, or tried to. I was in a fog. As his executor, I took care of things according to his wishes. Being the brave and dutiful son for my Dad.
Somehow, one day I knew I needed to overcome my sadness. I was wallowing at the bottom of a deep hole of sadness. I needed to change. I knew my Dad would not want me to continue on like I was.
But, even with my faith, I still needed some help. I began searching for ways to again have happiness and joy in life. I wanted to know what others said or wrote about happiness and joy, what their thoughts and advice were.
This book is a result of that searching. After writing it, I’m happier and more joyful now.
I realized this, finding happiness and joy in life is a journey. They are always to be sought after. I’m still a work-in-progress of happiness and joy, but I have progressed. We all must keep seeking and pressing toward happiness and joy. It does you no good to wallow at the bottom of a deep hole of sadness like I was doing. If that is you, then may this book help you to climb out of that rotten hole of sadness.
A few example quotes and notes from the book:

- Albert Einstein (1879-1955). Born in Germany, the genius Einstein is known as one of the greatest physicists ever. He was the Nobel Prize in Physics winner in 1921.
#23. “Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”
- Groucho Marx (1890-1977). Groucho had a quick wit and is considered to be one of America’s best-ever comedians. His full name was Julius Henry Marx and he was a writer, an actor, and a star in film, radio, television, and vaudeville. Groucho died of pneumonia on August 19, 1977, at age 86.
#150. “You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”

Please begin your journey of finding a life with happiness and joy. I wish you success.
