About this listen
IS IT CONSIDERED STALKING YOUR BOYFRIEND IF HE'S INVOLVED IN YOUR MURDER INVESTIGATION? (ASKING FOR A FRIEND)
Turner & Hooch meets Mr. & Mrs. Smith in the eighth book of the Wall Street Journal bestselling Maizie Albright Star Detective series. For readers who like quirky characters, funny fast-paced plots, and amateur sleuthing heroines who earnestly agonize over (but not between) murder and marriage.
#WannabeMrsSmith Ex-celebrity and current (assistant) private investigator Maizie Albright finds her already strange life has become even odder. Her new partner is two hundred pounds and canine. And her ex-partner/still-boyfriend is on the wrong side of her infidelity case.
Not that Wyatt Nash is cheating.
At least not on Maizie. She thinks Nash is cheating on his boss. Her dad. Which sounds much worse than it is. Except it is (maybe) worse than it sounds
It's Spy vs. Spy or rather, Detective vs. Detective when Maizie and Nash realize they're both tailing the same subject for very different reasons. Can Maizie out-investigate Nash to learn the secrets he's probing into at her father's company?
Secrets she fears are much darker (and stinkier) than the secret DeerNose formula.
Secrets possibly related to old rivalries and a recent murder.
Her relationship is on the line, but it's more than her heart at stake. Her career rests on this case. And there's a killer at large. One who will do anything to keep dark secrets from getting dragged into the light.
Critic reviews
"Fans of humorous mysteries like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, and Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan should pick up this series. We all need some fun in our reading lives." St. Louis Librarian Sarah, Sarah Can't Stop Reading
"Maizie's my new favorite escape from reality." Gretchen Archer, USA TODAY bestselling author of the Davis Way Crime Caper series.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. A New Partner in Crime…Detecting!
Give me a story about a girl and her dog and I’m immediately hooked. In this installment of the Maizie Albright series, Maizie has to share the spotlight with her new partner in crime…detecting. He’s a partner that she doesn’t want, but she does need to help her through this newest adventure. It’s a tale (or tail) with twists and turns and keeps you guessing right up until the end! The supporting characters add humor and history to the story as Maizie continues to grow from a teenage tv star to a star detective. I’m looking forward to the next book. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Maizie.
Joan Dukore really brings the characters and story to life! She does a wonderful job of capturing the humor in her narration.
I received a free copy from the author, but my review is honest and voluntary.

Fun, fast paced, romantic cozy mystery
19 Criminals is a funny, fast paced romantic cozy mystery with likable characters and a mystery to keep you guessing! Maizie Albright was an actress but is now a PI In Training. She is dating Nash who is also a PI but is working security for Maizie’s Dad’s company. They are both on different cases and are trailing people and keep bumping into each other. When someone dies, Maizie is involved with finding the culprit. There are laughs, friendship and a little clean romance. This audiobook is narrated by the amazing Joan Dukore and the voices are perfect for the characters. This is an enjoyable book and series.

Mostly Mazie
I think this is my favorite of the series. I love how Larissa Reinhart's characters grow. Marie is still too hard on herself, but she is becoming much more self-aware.
There is a brand new character that I hope we get to see more of on future books.
I love the length of each book in this series. Just when you think things will start wrapping up, something happens that makes you realize you're only half-way through the book.
You can probably enjoy this book on its own, but do yourself a favor and start from the beginning. You won't regret it.

#betterthanprozac #bestoneyet
Larissa Reinhart writes an intricate, fast-moving storyline with VERY well-developed characters. This installment finds Maizie still working at A.S.S. (Albright Security Solutions) and is feeling typecast as honey trap bait while Nashville is working at DeerNose as a security expert, trying to uncover DeerNose secrets. The secret he is trying to uncover (and keep from Maizie) unfortunately crosses paths with the mystery that Maizie finds herself enmeshed. You have to read to find out: Where is the very last place Maizie expects to find Nash's Silverado hidden? Which of the seven deadly sins does Maizie think Boomer is guilty? Which female does Maizie spy Nash eating pancakes with at the Waffle Haus late at night? What is a bullmastiff and why is it have the name Cuddles, and why is it eating a car? Joan Dukore is excellent as narrator and brings Maizie to life. I love this series!

Entertaining Character Rich Funny Cozy Mystery
Rich in entertaining characters, including a huge lovable mutt, this is a delightful cozy mystery romp with a lead detective who is a former child actress. Well performed narration with a well edited script and distinctly different character voices.
