NOTE* The undersea volcano in this story is real and began building for an eruption one year after this book was published.

This entire 2030 A.D. series can be read in any order. The situation of massive volcano eruptions near where they live is the same, but the locations and characters live far apart. How they deal with others are the center of the stories. Friends turn on friends, strangers help or hinder, but all are determined to survive in a new world without electric power, government, or safety.

In Oregon there exists in a small community between Salem and the Pacific Ocean where three miscreants live together in a single-wide trailer when volcanic ash begins falling. Volcanoes all along the Pacific rim have erupted, however the three refuse to move to the government-run shelters in the large cities, choosing to loot the nearby homes for supplies. However, Lenny has a sixteen-year-old sister living on the Oregon coast and nobody to help her. His goal is to go to her. It will not be an easy journey.
