Cody returns to Colorado to find his cabin occupied by the Michaels family. Pioneers who moved into what they thought was an abandoned cabin. He doesn't have the heart to throw them out of his home, so he and David Michaels build a new cabin nearby for Cody to live in. Together, they face the hazards of life in the Rockies -- brutal winter storms, killing cold, marauding bears and the occasional outlaw. An assault by two rogue Ferguson brothers, leaves Cody with a small fortune in ill-gotten gains. Cody's bravery handling this assault is equal to his generosity with the Michaels family.
As the winter weather winds down, the Michaels depart for a ranch in Utah which once again leaves Cody alone. However, that ends quickly when he spots smoke coming from his neighbor's place. He rides over to investigate and finds that Buckskin Joe, a fellow mountain man, and his family have been slaughtered by a raiding part of Comancheros, murderous thieves who've kidnapped Joe's two young daughters to sell for cold hard cash. The killers are headed for Mexico. Cody saddles up and goes hunting, determined to rescue the girls and bring their captors to deadly justice.
