自分を幸福だ、幸運だと感じることは、客観的な条件や評価は当てはまりません。自分自身が「どう感じるか」に左右されます。
人は、起こっているすべてのことを見たり、感じたりしているのではなく、自分の注意のいく情報のみを処理します。
自分を不幸だ、不運だ、と思い込んでしまう人は、自分をとりまく世界の中から、不運や嫌な事ばかり目についたり、感じたりします。
逆に、自分は「幸運だ、幸せだ」と思える人は、たとえ逆境にあっても、未来を前向きに捕らえられ、自分にプラスになるようなことを考え、思い出します。
自分を「幸福で幸運」と思える人は、感謝の気持ちを持ち、心持ちも明るくへこまないので、行動がより積極的になり、対人関係も広げられ、実際の人生も開けていきます。しかし、自分のことを「不運で不幸」だと思い込む人は、どうせ何をやっても無駄だと最初から諦めてしまうため、対人関係や行動も消極的になり、現実を打開する気力も機会も失ってしまいます。

和田秀樹(わだ・ひでき)
