About this listen

Some people are simply asking to be murdered. Rosemary Lillywhite has had a lot on her tea tray: murder, intrigue, and three men vying for her affections.

When her mother, Evelyn, calls and pleads with her to help put on a country garden club event, Rosemary begrudgingly agrees. After all, she can't leave poor Vera to her own devices, not when Evelyn has so staunchly objected to the match between Vera and Rosemary's brother, Frederick.

As it turns out, Evelyn doesn't approve of Rosemary's romantic interests either, and she's only made the event more awkward by inviting her preferred choice of suitor to the party!Furthermore, the garden club is filled with a group of Rosemary and Vera's school chums - an assortment of sour ladies they both would have preferred never to see again.

If she'd known one of them was going to meet her end in Evelyn's back garden, Rosemary might have declined her mother's invitation and let Vera fend for herself!

Now that murder has rocked the sleepy country village of Pardington and ruined the garden club event, Rosemary must bail her mother out of a jam, all while trying to juggle three men and mitigate Evelyn’s imminent nervous breakdown!

A Garden Party & Murder, Oh My!

I enjoyed the fourth book in this series as much as the first three books. I loved the setting. I admired the descriptive phrases which the author used to paint a picture of life in a small village in the 1920s. I admired Rosemary's intelligence. I understood Rosemary's frustration with her mother's interference in her life and in her brother's life. I was entertained by the convoluted mystery. I enjoyed Caren Naess' narration, and her performance was a pleasure to hear. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions about this audiobook.

Enjoyable, cozy mystery

I love the narrator. She really did a nice job. Gets you in the mood with a British accent. Very smooth reading. I have listened to one other book in this series so I was familiar with the main characters. Fun plot and interesting characters, very enjoyable. I received an early audio-copy of the audiobook, and this review contains my own opinion.

This Book Has All I Need In A Cozy

I love this series set in the 1920s. A Body Among the Roses is the 4th book in the series and has all the characters I love (including young Nelly who adds a great touch of humor, sweetness, and mischief), plus mean girls, a solid mystery, and just enough romance. The narrator is excellent, and I cannot wait until Book 5. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A Four 1/2 star read/listen

A Body Among the Roses: A 1920s Murder Mystery (Mrs. Lillywhite Investigates, Book 4), my fourth read from author Emily Queen. An enjoyable well-written, 4-hour 13-minute/198-page historical mystery, the fourth book in the Mrs. Lillywhite Investigates Series and a Top 100 in Audible Books & Originals read/listen. “I received a complementary Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Caren Naess' narration again adds to the enjoyment of the read/listen. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
