Engaging History of France

Listening to this audiobook felt like embarking on a thrilling time travel adventure, guided by Dominic Hayes's compelling storytelling. This audiobook unravelled France's rich tapestry from its enigmatic Celtic beginnings, through the dramatic epochs of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, right up to the throes of modernity. Hayes has a knack for making history come alive, weaving facts with vivid narrative that captivated me every step of the way. As someone deeply fascinated by my French heritage, I was delighted by the deep dives into the nation's transformation under Roman rule, the tumult of revolutions, and the cultural explosions that shaped the France we know today. This isn't just another history book; it's a journey through time, rendered in such detail and enthusiasm that it's impossible not to be drawn in. Whether you're a history buff or just casually curious about how France became the beacon of culture and politics it is, this audiobook is an absolute gem.

Viva la France!!

I am actually from France, so I was very excited to listen to this audiobook about our rich history. I have listened to other audiobooks from Dominic Hayes and they are always exceptionally done. In this audiobook, Hayes brings tons of insight and information to the listener about the Pre-Roman landscape, the grip of Rome, the impact of Romes collapse, war, plagues, and so much more! I enjoyed this book very much and I am sure you will too!

Very interesting

This book was fun. It was easier to comprehend than a dense textbook about French history yet still was very educational and entertaining. If you are at all curious about European history keep this book in mind. It's a good one.
