About this listen

“I am Princess Meredith, heir to a throne—if I can stay alive long enough to claim it.”

After eluding relentless assassination attempts by Prince Cel, her cousin and rival for the Faerie crown, Meredith Gentry, Los Angeles private eye, has a whole new set of problems. To become queen, she must bear a child before Cel can father one of his own. But havoc lies on the horizon: people are dying in mysterious, frightening ways, and suddenly the very existence of the place known as Faerie is at grave risk. So now, while she enjoys the greatest pleasures of her life attempting to conceive a baby with the warriors of her royal guard, she must fend off an ancient evil that could destroy the very fabric of reality. And that’s just her day job. . . .

amazing continuance of book one. the idea of expanding the magic through experience and contact like a cold, was perfect.

An OG Dark Paranormal series gets a great new narrator!

I am a big Merry Gentry fan, and I’ve been with the series since the beginning. It’s dated in many ways, but continues to be super entertaining? And I’m very invested in the central characters.

It’s closer to Erotica than Romance, so bear that in mind.

That said, Hamilton has created a vivid and original world, steeped in folklore, mythology and history, but with a unique take.

This narrator for these re-releases is so much better than the previous narrator, who did a fantastic job with Queen Andais, but struggled with most of the male voices — just not at all sexy — and sounded far too old to be Merry.

It almost feels like listening to a different series. I know the story well, and am anticipating favorite scenes and lines, but it’s a fascinating glimpse into how different a story can feel with a different reader/interpretation.

Hopefully this re-release means that a new Merry Gentry book is coming soon. PUBLISHER, PLEASE RE-RELEASE THE FULL SERIES WITH THIS NEW NARRATOR. I will absolutely re-purchase each of the titles as they are released ♥️

just wow?

the narration performance for this is phenomenal, I've read the whole series and in book one had the original narrator, it's like night and day! i wish I didn't have to wait for the remaining books to be redone! A must listen even if you've already read or listen to other narrators
