About this listen

The focal character in the film Shadowlands, C.S. Lewis continues to fascinate and influence thousands of people more than 30 years after his death. A Christian for All Christians looks at the influence and friendships that helped shape the real Clive Staples Lewis - Christian apologist, moral philosopher, literary critic, poet, and fantasy writer - and examines the reasons for his enduring popularity with virtually all types of Christians by analyzing the true meaning of his teaching and faith.©1992 by Dr. Andrew Walker and Dr. James Patrick (P)1992 by Blackstone Audiobooks Christianity Religious Theology

This set of essays goes way beyond Shadowland or other biographies in telling who C.S. Lewis was. It gives insight into his learned mind, his orientation, his intellectual and spiritual problems. The writers range from close colleagues to distant observers. Many talk about the same books, debates, and stuggles but from differing perspectives.
The book is highly philosophical and theological; so, it's audience may be narrow.
The recording is fairly good with only a little muddiness and clippedness.

Very pleasent to listen to. Gives a really good overall view into how / why C.S. Lewis was who he was. Enjoyed it very much, will be listening to it over and over again.

Educational & Informative

Its long and deep in analysis of controversies about the life and writings of C.S.Lewis. To this practical-minded reviewer, at times tedious and repetitious. It is high on the balcony and rarely views the road of his life. I concur that the audience is narrow, beware the essays are from philosophers and intellectuals who are comentating about the philosophy of a great intellectual who generally denied any claims to the title of philosopher.
It is redeemed by a handful of accounts from people who knew Lewis and who defend and admire his logic. Sorry to the fine authors but this work is perhaps too well-done and beyond my grasp as a hack philosopher.
