Reading overdramatic, some of the acting made me question whether the text was understood. sound effects, sometimes just over the top silly, often drowned out the dialogue. Ghosts' voices difficult to understand (also over done). my kids refused to listen to this only a few minutes into it. They liked a plain amateur reading and radio version.
As mid and late teens they are too old for this story now, so I took the chance on this rendition and endured it to the end because I like a good story, I like drama, and I enjoy directing and acting.,. So, I listened as a director would, reminding myself this was only the third rehearsal, and we still had plenty of time to adjust and tweek before the actual performance.
One day, when my children are again old enough for this story, I would love to present them with a new more professional try.

Nearly Unlistenable

Any additional comments?

I love A Christmas Carol and I thought I'd love a multi-voice performance, but this "sonic theater" was awful. The sound effects overwhelm the narration; the voices often sound like they belong in some space adventure full of robots; the main narrators change almost in mid-sentence without rhyme or reason. I persevered, but the constantly howling wind effects almost did me in. It was all just very irritating and a terrible thing to do to a great story.

The very definition of over-produced

Whoever cooked up this catastrophic rendition of the Charles Dickens classic, should be boiled in his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart.
