About this listen
Thrust into a war she did not choose, Sarah Fanum yearns for simpler times. Times when all she had to worry about were bad crops or bad weather. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. Set in 1776, my short story A Christmas Crossing describes the night that changed the course of the Revolutionary War. It is not your typical Christmas story, but one that has affected every fabric of our lives as Americans.
I was inspired to write A Christmas Crossing after visiting Yorktown, VA. I have always been enamored by the Revolutionary War and wanted to share my love for history with my love for Christmas. I hope you enjoy it.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Ms Hubbard claims to have written this to combine a love of history and Christmas. It would have been better to have combined it with a little more research as well. In addition to being predictable and mellowdramatic, Ms Hubbard's story makes several historical errors regarding how women campfollowers lived and worked with the Continental Army. She also infers that there were a number of women whose primary source of support was prostitution. While prostitution was present, it was not something that officers tolerated, or turned a blind eye towards. Even a short story deserves accuracyIn addition the narrator falls into an annoying faux bass voice when she reads male voices. It was distracting and a little creepy.
Can't recommend this at all. Tried to give it half a star, but had to give it one.
