About this listen
The city is firmly held in the grip of fear as a serial killer lurks in the shadows, claiming a new victim each week. The killer preys on young women with seemingly nothing in common except to have somehow caught his eye. With the discovery of each new victim the city descends deeper into the shadows, consumed by the desire to escape the killer's grip. The efforts of the police task force is complicated by the appearance of a copycat killer, a news leak from one of their own, and little to no physical evidence.
Weakening under relentless pressure from the media and citizens groups, the Mayor forms a plan to stave off certain political death. Willing to sacrifice the task force, the administration hopes to buy time by centering the blame for the continued murders by laying the blame on the task force's lack of progress. Time is short as the task force, led by Steven Gauge, sifts through the meager clues to piece together a profile of the killer. Gauge and his group of unorthodox detectives work relentlessly to beat the deadline and prevent the killer from claiming yet another victim.

The book has too many unrelated subplots and is in desperate need of another editor.
Has A City Without Pity turned you off from other books in this genre?
No.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Terrible narration. Mispronunciations, Uninspired reading, like listening to a court reporter. Made the whole thing rather boring.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The story itself was interesting and kept my attention.
Any additional comments?
Could have been a great book if it had been tightened up and proofread one more time.
