About this listen
Lord Thurlby can only ever recall previous visits of Lavinia Muir, his mother’s goddaughter, with a shudder. So it is with undisguised horror that he hears she is to come and stay again.
Her arrival on the common stage, accompanied by the flirtatious Isobel Macclesfield, does nothing to allay his fears. When he learns that Lavinia has become entangled with the rakish Lord Riseholm, his reservations appear to be justified.
With the passing of time, perceptions begin to change, and only with the arrival of Lord Riseholm himself can matters begin to be resolved once and for all.

I was happy to find another author to add to my favorites list and get excited aboutWhat did you like best about this story?
the fact that I was kept wondering how Lavinia who was shy and not having any friends was going to extricate herself from the machinations of her friend Isobel and have everything come about and it was a clean storyWhat about Gordon Griffin’s performance did you like?
I like a reader who is enthusiastic and not just reads to get thru the project, and he did a very good job and I was well satisfied with the readingWas this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes I did, but with my schedule I was unable to and I'm a person who needs and has (for the most part) regular hours, particularly for sleep, although I did miss my bedtime some but that's ok :)Any additional comments?
I found A Country Gentle by Ann Barker quite by accident. I have read Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer, more than once and I really like historical fiction, in particular the Georgian/Regency era and I keep alert for other writers of that genre. I’ve read many that I like but none that I thought compared to Austen or Heyer. When I found this I decided to give it a try and I’m very glad I did. It is a very good, clean read, and it had me looking for other books by this author and I found them, seven so far. Currently on Jilted, now that I found them I’ve started with the first and will go through them all. This second promises to be just as good and I’ll be looking for more from her.A Country Gentleman by Ann Barker
