Margaret Tudor, the elder sister of her more famous brother Henry VIII, is the single most important Tudor figure of this era that historians have consistently overlooked. Married at thirteen to the charismatic James IV of Scotland, a man more than twice her age, she would learn the skills of statecraft that would enable her to survive his early death, and to construct a powerful position in her adopted country of Scotland as she dealt with domestic issues as well as navigating international relations with England and France.

Good storytelling, excellent choice of narration,
I liked learning something new about lesser known historical figures. It felt like a behind the scenes look at the lives and actions of the “not quite royal” and yet so close. It was interesting to hear about the strength and forbearance of a female in such a time of uncertainty. I liked how the author gave her such a positive mindset as she faced adversity throughout her life. It was an easy listen and trip back in time.

Finally!!!!
Thank you! I have waited years for a good historical fiction story to be written of the Mortimer family. The bits and pieces that are weaved into other novels always left me wanting and wondering where they came from and what made the first Earl of the March believe he had any rights. How did he hook up with the Queen Isabella, did he leave any abandoned family and what did his wife do, think, feel? I started reading this genre when I was 14 years old. I’ve owned hard copies and have replaced all of the good ones with Audible recordings. I’m 58yrs old. Always searching for the next really good novel. This one was fantastic! Thank you!
