About this listen
With an unfaithful wife and a career in shambles, troubled Bill Ferguson decides to take drastic action. The youngest vice president in the history of Greystone Mutual Insurance, the workaholic executive becomes burned out, slacks off, and is demoted as a result. Learning of his wife Laura's infidelity only adds insult to injury. Lost, he is intrigued by a news story about a man who attempted to fake his own death and failed miserably. Bill decides he can do better. A lot better.
Over a two month period, he perfects a scheme to make it appear as if he's been murdered, then steal the three million in life insurance from his wife. His intricate plan includes creating two new identities: a fictitious employee, and a private, overseas bank. Bill's scheme is just crazy enough to work. His staged crime scene confuses the police, while unbeknownst to him, his wife and her lover help to further his plan. After stealing the money in daring fashion, Bill and the cash disappear. An elaborate financial shell game allows him to walk away with the money. The question is, will he be caught?
A crime novel with excellent pace, A Devious Plan is a tale of revenge and deception.
©2015 Michael Walsh (P)2015 California Times PublishingStory: The story progression in the book was well formed and didn't have any gaps. I didn't find myself in a position of how did I get here.
Character Development: I think the character development was great. The primary characters were well developed and the author didn't go overboard on the secondary characters. I also think the perspective changes were well done. That comment needs explaining, I didn't find my self in a position were I had to bear through it.
Predictability: I found this book had just the right amount of plot twists without going overboard. It kept me interested to the very end.
Ok that was the clinical, here's the the down an dirty. I really liked the it, it's one of those books that has you rooting for the bad guy. I can't wait for the next one.
