About this listen
Jillian hopes she has finally found a safe haven in the Catskills, but as she looks out at the dense forest surrounding her secluded RV campground, she can't help but wonder if she's leapt from the pan into the fire. After leaving a promising career at the FBI, she's been on the run, constantly pursued by malevolent supernatural entities. Alaska and Wyoming didn't provide the sanctuary she was hoping for, but maybe upstate New York will be different.
But as Jillian tries to settle into her new life, she can't shake the feeling that something is off. It's not just the strange noises she hears at night or the eerie stillness of the forest, it's the lingering presence of something sinister. And as local young women start to go missing, Jillian suspects she may have stumbled upon a different kind of monster.
Desperate to protect herself and those around her, Jillian must use her unique ability to see the paranormal to unravel the mystery of the missing girls. But as she delves deeper into the dark underbelly of the Catskills, she realizes that she may have met her match. And if she can't stop the abductions, she may become the next victim.

It is only when Jack's son is dragged into the walls of the mansion that he realises what happened sixty years ago—and just where the inmates have been living all this time...

Story
When five college friends cross America in a minivan to find themselves, they chance upon a road that isn’t on any map. They can’t resist exploring it. The van breaks down. They find a town, a massive trailer park steeped in squalor. The town isn’t on any map either. They find people in town. They’ll wish they hadn’t. The only sanctuary is the Big House - a giant mansion at the center of town that appears to be abandoned, only all the lights come on at night. Inside the Big House is the secret of the town. Inside, they’ll finally find themselves. They won’t like what they find.

Story
Stay Away - An amazingly original horror novel from Ike Hamill Every small town has secrets. Some secrets can kill. He’s always been there, the old gentleman in the funeral suit, hanging around the big oak tree. Even before the cemetery was dug, the natives knew about him. He was just as much a part of the landscape as the rocks or the river. If you ever needed anything, especially if it was a matter of life and death, you could find him and make a trade. He always trades fair. Everybody says so. Eric is about to trade without even realizing it. He isn’t tricked. It’s only a mistake. ...

Story: great. Robot voice: not so much!
Good thing the story was so awesome that I was able to get over the robot narrator. I wish they would stop already! Can't imagine that it saves that much money!
That said, this was a great book!! I loved the premise and novel twist to this genre - one of my favorites. And that's why I gave it a chance even though I knew it was AI narrated. Really glad I did! I think it's worth listening to. There's so much going on between the characters and the different events playing out all at the same time but written so well that there was no confusion and you want to root for the characters involved. There was enough horror to satisfy my twisted mind yet still well developed relationships to give drama as well. If you can get over the robot voice, you'll enjoy this.
