About this listen
Jillian hopes she has finally found a safe haven in the Catskills, but as she looks out at the dense forest surrounding her secluded RV campground, she can't help but wonder if she's leapt from the pan into the fire. After leaving a promising career at the FBI, she's been on the run, constantly pursued by malevolent supernatural entities. Alaska and Wyoming didn't provide the sanctuary she was hoping for, but maybe upstate New York will be different.
But as Jillian tries to settle into her new life, she can't shake the feeling that something is off. It's not just the strange noises she hears at night or the eerie stillness of the forest, it's the lingering presence of something sinister. And as local young women start to go missing, Jillian suspects she may have stumbled upon a different kind of monster.
Desperate to protect herself and those around her, Jillian must use her unique ability to see the paranormal to unravel the mystery of the missing girls. But as she delves deeper into the dark underbelly of the Catskills, she realizes that she may have met her match. And if she can't stop the abductions, she may become the next victim.

Story
These thirteen stories are our own lives, inside out. A boy's summer romance doesn't end in that good kind of heartbreak, but in blood. A girl on a fishing trip makes a friend in the woods, except then that friend follows her back to the city. A father hears a voice through his baby monitor that shouldn't be possible, but now he can't stop listening. From prison guards making unholy alliances to snake-oil men in the Old West doling out justice, these stories carve down into the body of the mind, into our most base fears and certainties, and there's no anesthetic.

Story
Stay Away - An amazingly original horror novel from Ike Hamill Every small town has secrets. Some secrets can kill. He’s always been there, the old gentleman in the funeral suit, hanging around the big oak tree. Even before the cemetery was dug, the natives knew about him. He was just as much a part of the landscape as the rocks or the river. If you ever needed anything, especially if it was a matter of life and death, you could find him and make a trade. He always trades fair. Everybody says so. Eric is about to trade without even realizing it. He isn’t tricked. It’s only a mistake. ...

Story
Some homes are built on secrets. Others are built on scars left behind when hell itself breaks through. "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." — Luke 10:18 When the devil was cast down, the impact left a scar in the fabric of the world. Some places never healed. Based in part on true events, Hole in the Hallway is a chilling supernatural horror novel about a family’s descent into terror on a remote island off the Atlantic coast. In the early 1980s, a young family moves into a peaceful home perched high on rugged cliffs above the ocean. But something ancient is buried beneath the...

Story
The girl had been staring into her mirror all morning before she picked up the small bottle of sulphuric acid and poured it over her forehead. Samira was a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. What could have brought her to this? DC Jerry Pardoe and DS Jamila Patel of Tooting Police suspect it's suicide. But then a meek husband kills his wife, and the headteacher of the local school throws her pupils out of a window. It's no longer a random outbreak of horrific crimes. It's a deadly virus. And it's spreading.

Too much gore to finish

That said, this was a great book!! I loved the premise and novel twist to this genre - one of my favorites. And that's why I gave it a chance even though I knew it was AI narrated. Really glad I did! I think it's worth listening to. There's so much going on between the characters and the different events playing out all at the same time but written so well that there was no confusion and you want to root for the characters involved. There was enough horror to satisfy my twisted mind yet still well developed relationships to give drama as well. If you can get over the robot voice, you'll enjoy this.
Story: great. Robot voice: not so much!
