About this listen

Three Brannock brothers came west. Now, only one of them survives, and Clint Brannock feels the weight of responsibility as a U.S. deputy marshal. Hunting down an outlaw in the Indian territories, Clint meets up with two of his nephews one destined to live or die by the gun, the other to live or die in his shadow. And in southern New Mexico, a beautiful sister-in-law, Elizabeth, presides over 100,000 rich acres and dabbles in a dangerous game.

Author Matt Braun (winner of the Spur Award and the Wister Award for Lifetime Achievement in Western Literature) delivers a stirring depiction of the struggles of the Anglos, Indians, and Mexicanos in the New Mexico Territory of the late 19th century.

Up close and personal in

While not one of my primary genres, I truly enjoyed being part of this old west family. Many different personalities collide in an unexpected family reunion. Great word pictures, just like being there. Well thought out and researched storylines. I look forward to a sequal. George Guidal is perfect (as usual), but his voice was made for books like this, no one could have possibly done a better job. Read and enjoy.

The best western trilogy I have heard

Is it George Guidel, or the incredible way this writer blends his words to place you in the heart of the west as it once was? My husband and I listen to everything we can find that George Guidell reads, but this trilogy stands out above and beyond all!

Not much action and hard to follow the characters

about half way through this one now and it's pretty much a snoozer, barely holds your interest and hardly any action. I'd say it was a bad purchase and I wouldn't recommend.
