On the night of September 15, 1961, when two mothers, Andrea and Maritza, give birth, the emergency room of La Covadonga Hospital in Havana is very crowded. Andrea, who is just a teenager, immigrates to the United States alone to start a new life. Circumstances force her to leave her newborn girl in Cuba.
