 How long should Emily wait? Her newlywed husband never returned from the Vietnam War and his letters ceased arriving. She longed for him because he had promised to return and she had promised to wait. She went to college, taught school, retired, and then built a home on Georgian Bay in Ontario where her grandparents' old cottage had been.
