Publisher's summary

Falling in love can happen in the blink of an eye.

I fell for Jay the moment I laid eyes on him. I was drawn to him in a way I’d never been drawn to a man before. He was everything I wanted. The man I dreamed about at night and looked for everywhere I turned just for a glimpse of his perfection.

But I couldn’t have him.

It was against the rules. Forbidden.

He was my best friend’s boyfriend. I would never do that to her.

Then, she died.

Looking at him became painful, bringing back memories of the reason we couldn’t be together. The reason I never pursued him.

I had to move on and vowed never to look back in an attempt to escape him and the devastation in my heart. Yet, here I stand, five years later, staring into the eyes of the man I still want. In the place I swore I’d never return to. With memories assaulting me from every angle.

He’s still the picture of perfection in my eyes, making our attraction even more dangerous than it once was. The only difference - no one is standing in our way this time.

Closing one chapter, starting another

Good story and characters that are easy to like. Dealing with grief, finding answers, and closure. That sums up the short trip back to her college town. Add in her long time love, denied for so many years, good friends and hope. Oh! And a murderer just waiting to be discovered.

Not a fan of the narrator.

Who killed Sam?

Good story about falling for your best friends boyfriend, but I was really intrigued with the murder mystery. Don’t get me wrong, the moral question of if you should pursue a relationship with your friends boyfriend (even after she’s dead) is a good story. But navigating those emotions while also trying to solve a murder and bring closure to a small town is what really drew me into this story.

You were meant for me

Rachael Brownell, I heart your face so hard. This is one of my favorite audiobooks this year. This is an intriguing story about love, loss, heartbreak, guilt, and friendship. The lust between Andrea and Jay is swoon-worthy and so romantic. The deep connections and loyal friendships in this story are heart-warming and beautiful. It had the perfect amount of mystery and suspense. Rachael built such a great world with intriguing characters and a small town I’d be lucky to live in. You’re sucked in and invested in the story right from the beginning. It’s so well-written with the perfect amount of angst. I highly recommend this emotional and captivating story!

Leanne Woodward was cast perfectly for this role. You know you’re going to get a perfectly narrated book when you see her name. She is so talented and easily brings the characters to life. Her voice, pacing, and pitch are versatile and distinct. She expertly portrays each character with their own sound and emotional range, giving us the perfect tone for this story. Thank you, Leanne, for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I heart your face too!

Great Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!

I enjoyed this book immensely, it is well written with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. This story is original and so much more than an ordinary romance. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. A grief stricken and heartbroken Andrea Morris left Great Falls and all her friends behind as soon as she was finished with college. She could not handle the tragic loss of her friend, Sam, and all the guilt she felt, she blamed herself for her death plus she feels guilt for having feelings for Jay Morris, Sam’s boyfriend. Those feelings were an instant attraction from when she first met Jay, but after learning who he was she knew then that their attraction and the chemistry between them would never lead to anything. She has not been back to Great Falls in five years, her friend Spencer convinces her to come, seeing her friends again was like coming home for her. She missed Spencer and Mia and Sam’s Mom Summer, she did not want to see Jay but he was there too. When she found out that the Chief of Police was looking to close Sam’s case she decided to take a look at everything the investigation uncovered, she is a criminal profiler and will work a profile to present to PD so they can give it another look. She winds up working with Jay, they also find out where each other is in life and what their feelings were. This is an engaging story, the book is cleverly plotted and there is never a dull moment. The author takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride and a journey of forgiveness, self healing, learning to let go of the ugly monster called guilt and to start to live again. I thought the ending was so fitting, a nice surprise from Sam. Rachael Brownell, thank you for the great story.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Leanne Woodward is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. She brings these characters to life, giving each their own distinct sound making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She does an awesome job portraying the characters, taking each role and making it her own sounding believable and just as I picture the character to sound. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧
