About this listen

When an ambitious publishing company assistant returns to her small hometown for Christmas and discovers that her family's bookstore is floundering, she teams up with a handsome local author to devise a plan to save the shop from going out of business.

I love Meredith Pott's cozy mysteries so I thought I'd take two chances on this book. Number one, this is the first romance I've listened to written by her and second this is narrated by virtual voice. The book is a sweet contemporary romance. It's well written with a HEA and a MC that saves the day for everyone. The narration was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. There were times that the narration sound off, but it was surprising realistic and caught a lot of the expression.

Sadly, the AI voice left the story devoid of emotion. I approached listening with intrigue & high hopes, & was disappointed. AI has a long way to go in applications like this. The story could have been much more appealing using real humans to narrate.
