About this listen

At 18, Moreina di Bianco is a young healer who believes in medicine, not magic, even while possessing a second sight she can't fully explain. So when the Faranzine Talisman chooses Reina to reawaken an ancient magic and end a war, she must reconcile her beliefs, unlock the talisman's secrets, and harness the magic within.

Reluctant to accept help, Reina agrees to allow two determined escorts to accompany her on her journey for truth, but each comes with a mysterious past of his own. Her estranged childhood friend, Quinn D'Arturio, left their village years ago and only recently returned, harboring dark secrets behind a solemn exterior. And despite his status as a perfect stranger, a dashing captain by the name of Niles Ingram is quick to fight by Reina's side at whatever the cost. That someone she's only just met would give his life for hers is a sobering realization of the ever-present danger Reina has jumped into.

There's just one problem with Reina's two companions. They, too, are featured in the talisman's prophecy - as potential suitors. But what woman wants a suitor, let alone two, when she's tasked with defeating a usurping general, ending a war, finding the true king, and rightfully seating him on the throne?

Great world and story

This was an unexpectedly great read! I enjoyed the cast of characters, especially Moreina di Bianco, and watching her come into her own. The pacing of the story was excellent and the magically elements and prophecies were exciting and kept me very engaged. Magic, love, relationships, adventure and action will keep you listening and excited to find out what happens next! Great Fantasy Escape

If you are a lover of deep expansive fantasy realms you will love A Thousand Yeas to Wait. The characters are complex and relatable. The world is deep and interesting. The performance is also very engaging.

Great story; potential trigger for sexual violence victims.

This story was enjoyable, the characters are well defined for a book of this length. The main character seems a bit daft in terms of how blind she seems to be to things around her. However, the story has you throughly invested by the halfway mark. The romantic tension makes you want to roll your eyes at the main character. I enjoyed the many turns this tale took and would recommend it with stern parental guidance for those under 18 (specifically for the potential trigger scene). Sent

Narrator has good rhythm, but not the best character differentiation.

Parent review- There is some minor language but no f-bombs.
Sex: there are some insinuations of rape, a scene depicting imminent rape (potential trigger)
Violence: decent amount of bloodshed, although nothing super gory.

very good story

I loved this book! at first I had a hard time continuing with the story just because it did start off a little slow in the first 3 hours but once the action started it didn't stop and I couldn't stop listening! The narrator did a phenomenal job and I enjoyed listening to her interpret the story. Very strong female character Reyna was awesome and she had a lot of guts don't want to spoil for anyone but this book is a must read 💗

Original, mystical, and contemplating where the story would take you next!

This book was very enjoyable to listen to. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I don’t always have the time to sit down and read a book so I love when I have the opportunity to listen to a good book. It was original and mystical and had you thinking and rethinking where the story was going to take you. Highly recommend!

A great story to escape in!

I thought A THOUSAND YEARS TO WAIT was such a cool read. I was immediately interested in the story and main character, there was a lot of action, it was super creative, and the lead embraced STRENGTH. The romance was also a nice addition to the story, and I loved how surprised I was by a few things.

Great Female Narrator, Good Listen

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The pacing and story held my interest, especially in the beginning. However, the story did shift from the type of narrative as I was expecting about halfway through. There was magic, decent world building, and healing-themed elements. I was impressed with Joan Coombs' narration -- my favorite female narrator so far! She had great pacing, calming voice, and had enough diversity for the characters. I would definitely listen to books narrated by her again!

Engaging YA fantasy takes you on an adventure

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator brought the adventure to life with each scene as we traveled with Reina on an epic journey. L.Ryan Storms is a talented author and I look forward to more books in this series. I appreciated the lack of info dump at the beginning. The dialogue was witty and worldbuilding just enough to draw me in. I am a sucker for secondary characters and heroes and this story did not let me down in that regard. Highly recommend.

Delightful fantasy comes in smaller doses!

Disclaimer:I received a free review copy from the author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn’t have to spend 3 volumes building the “world” and the story moved quickly. Believable young adult heroes without overdosing on romance as well as a happily ever after. I would recommend this to anyone from my preteen grandkids to my elderly friends. I would love to see a sequel!
