About this listen

Love is the one thing she knows for sure.

Joseph Slater, an up-and-coming Christian singer and songwriter, doesn’t plan to be in Cherish, South Carolina, longer than a few days. That is, until he meets Scarlett Evans, who finds herself at a loss for words when she is formally introduced to the famous musician.

Normally, Joseph would be looking for the fastest way out of town if he thought a woman he was attracted to qualified as a homebody. Yet Scarlett’s appeal - her laugh, her optimism, her obvious passion for the things she cares about - weighs stronger than his reluctance to settle down.

Despite her attempts to hold onto her heart, the weight of an empty life proves that although Scarlett had good reason to be lost, Joseph was her way to be found.

From USA Today best-selling author Josie Riviera comes a new contemporary Christian romance series set in the small town of Cherish, South Carolina. These sweet and wholesome stories, where God is at the center, brim with love and laughter.

A Valentine to Cherish is the third audiobook in the Cherish series, where music, laughter, and a little sister turn Valentine’s Day around.

So sweet

A Valentine to Cherish is a sweet and clean Christian romance. I enjoyed the writing style, adorable characters that struggle with common issues of society, and the theme of relying on God (without being preachy). The performer does a wonderful job with voices and has a nice tone to her voice.

Sweet Christian romance

Such a sweet story. Both characters are charming and have their challenges, but with love anything is possible.

Cherish the love

I enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator was good with this cute romance. Joseph and Scarlett meet in the town of Cherish, South Carolina. He is a Christian singer and she works with support dogs and is a big sister. When she is introduced to him, at the music store, she is awed. She can dream, but Joseph would never be interested in her. Scarlett catches Joseph's eye, but he is only here for a few days. Magical things happen on Valentine's Day, could it happen this year?

Good

The story was a good story, a bit of light fantasy. I enjoyed it. It had a happy ending. I didn’t find myself completely engaged with the characters, so I gave it a 4/5. It’s a bit of light fun.
The narrator did a great job, except for the singing. Read the words with lilt rather than try to create a tune.

longing for love

Charlotte longs to have what her friend has - a forever love. She struggles with her self image and can't image someone like Joseph would really be interested in her. Joseph is such a sweet heart and longs to show Charlotte how much he wants to give her forever. A really sweet ending.

Sometimes, our friends know us best

Joseph and Scarlett seem to be complete opposites. He's a world-traveler and famous for his music. She's deeply rooted in one place and content to serve at home. Yet when they meet, there's something there.

Their friends and other towns-people of Cherish can see that they belong together. But they're not so sure, especially Scarlett, who's been hurt before...

I love the fact that this author uses her writing to help readers explore the importance of worthy organizations and activities. Scarlett trains service dogs for the disabled and veterans and volunteers with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Seeing the difference she makes in these roles is part of what roots her to Cherish, making it "home" for her.

She can't imagine leaving those things behind to follow after Joseph and his music, nor can she ask him to stay. But it's those gifts we never ask for and that are freely given that mean the most, especially when they match our heart's desire.

I do wish that Scarlett had a little more self-confidence and wasn't so focused on her weight all the time. I felt that detracted from the story a bit. But overall, I enjoyed the audiobook very much. I did find the narration much too slow and was grateful that I could speed it up in the app.

Good.

This is the only book of the series that I listened to. This is a good book if you believe in there are still wholesome Christian goody two shoes people out in our world. Don't get me wrong, it's very enjoyable and the narrator did a good job with the characters. This book was a pleasure to listen to and I would like to thank the author, narrator, or publisher for providing me this audiobook at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review.

Can the two of them compromise?

Such a sweet Valentine story. Scarlett lost her fiancee and her job at the same time. She was engaged to the local vet and worked in his office. He broke their engagement and moved away. Told her she was too boisterous for him. She likes color and she is curvy. Scarlett has tried to lose weight for make her more attractive, but hasn't had a lot of success. She is a big sister for a little girl who loves her just as she is. When Scarlett and her little sister meet Joseph, Scarlett knows that the good looking singer is not the one for her. He is handsome and can have anyone he wants. Why would he want her? Joseph has been all over the world. He is in Cherish to visit some friends and to do a concert. He is immediately drawn to Scarlett. He doesn't think she is too loud or too heavy. He likes her just as she is. The problem is that Joseph is a rolling stone. He doesn't have a home, he lives on the road. Scarlett is a homebody. Can the two of them compromise?

Joseph & Scarlett

What happens when the good looking, popular Christian singer comes to Cherish? Everyone is us excited Joseph Slater is in town. But he is interested in just one woman. Scarlett cannot believe Joseph she is the one he had taken a liking too. She is ordinary, and she has to remember he is just in town temporarily. Will she for for his wiles? Will he leave town? This sweet story had me from the start. The music, the kids, the realistic feelings and the hometown feel had me immersed in the community and watching the romance blossom. Josie Riviera brings all the feelings and faith into the wonderful small town and lets us find our place living there too!

Anthea Hallett-Ybarra provides all the voices and all emotions to life with her narration. It’s beautifully performed and gives us a warm hearted, good feeling romance.

A sweet story to listen to.

I have enjoyed reading or listening to Josie Riviera 's stories. They are sweet and clean and deal with real issues that people face. I do like the recipes at the end. I am slowly working my way through this series.
