Publisher's summary
For a witch trained as a demon hunter, werewolves, ghouls, and vampires are all in a day’s work. But Red has no memories of her past — not even her real name — and her cases keep inching her closer to the truth.
She comes to LA to solve a murder. The trail leads to Kristoff. Handsome and dangerous, the vampire is more than her prime suspect. He might hold the key to her mysterious origins. As the death count grows, she sinks into a supernatural conspiracy as the city teeters on the brink of civil war.
Red needs to keep her wits sharp. And her stake sharper. Or she'll die before she even learns her real name…

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. The very boring and unemotional narrative
The narration of this book was atrocious. Had the wrong inflections in the wrong places. And sounded very mechanical throughout.
For the writing? Book jumped from one scene to the next and had you rewinding to make sure you didn't miss something. Continuously introduced new characters out of nowhere. No world building so you can't really connect to the characters. I won't be bothering myself with any other AI narrated books in the future. And I'm sorry but I won't be listening or reading another of this author s books.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
