About this listen

When Dr. Adam Markham is diagnosed with an incurable cancer he agrees to participate in an experimental study. The study has several goals, two of which are to cure his cancer and genetically enhance his body. He is placed in suspended animation for a procedure that is expected to last months or at most a few years. Unfortunately, while he is sleeping WWIII ends civilization.
Adam awakens in a deadly new world after decades instead of the much shorter time he was expecting. Together with the Artificial Intelligence that inhabits a carbon based nanotube computer installed in his brain he must fight his way across a post-apocalyptic landscape. Along the way he rescues a wolfdog pup he names Roe. The three companions face dangers from mutated animals and humans, as well as a deadly environment. Adam and Roe gain in strength and skill as they become more battle hardened. All the while the A.I. (Nan) becomes more and more human.
During their journey the three are successful in helping others and righting many wrongs. However, they decide that survival and helping a limited number of people is not enough. They want and need more and have the genetic enhancements to achieve it. With a new sense of purpose they commit to using their gifts in pursuit of a greater dream.

Good winning each chapter was different and exciting

No sequel there needs to be a story about how they conquer space and how they multiply

Great Story, Bad Narration

Good Story, safe for kids to listen to. Needs a ew narrator. I picked it up off audible plus, liked the story so much I bought it.

Virtual narration was a distinct distraction to a great story

Virtual narration is not ready for Audio books. A great story, well written and believable.

Virtual voice didn’t work so well. It would sound like speaking into a tube every couple of minutes. Keep real folks employed.

Started out as a pretty good post apocalyptic story, last half hour was torture. Would have been better to let them ride off into the sunset

Narration

The AI narrator is absolutely horrible and completely removes you from the story. I tried listening for hours and it became so grating I couldn't even get half way through it.
