Wonderful guided medications for newbies

After years of abusing my body and spirit with stressful jobs and late nights, I have only recently started to make a honest effort to live a more balanced life. Unlike the previous reviewer David, I have not read any of the books cited and am completely new to meditation. I was a little skeptical and felt a little silly at first but I thought I would give it a try.

Three weeks ago, I put on my earbuds in as I was going to bed with one of the PM meditations on. As I breathed deliberately, I actually felt my rib cage expanding and joints popping. The voice was beautiful and relaxing and guided me into a deep relaxation and restful sleep. The next morning, I put on one of the AM meditations as soon as I woke and have been doing this almost every day since. Although my mind still drifts out of focus often and I am not able to visualize the colors of the seven chakras (the energy centers of the body, I had to look this up) with much success, I found the peaceful deep breathing very relaxing and beneficial.

Last week, I went for my monthly massage and the therapist quickly observed that I seemed a lot less stressed out, without my usual tough knots all over my shoulders and backs. I also feel a lot less pain in my neck and shoulders after a long day's work.

I have since gotten a few other guided meditation audio books but I think this one is still my favorite. Each AM or PM program is about 15 minutes and very manageable. Truly the best $5.87 I have ever spent.

Mental medicine

I have listened to AM Meditations for 20 years, and it has always been the best way to start my day. PM Meditations are good anytime.

Really easy and relaxing

These are several mediations 15 minutes long one for am and one for pm. I found them to be easy to follow, fun and relaxing. This is now the main tool I use to meditate. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

A Good Way to Start and Finish your Day

The voice is very nice, and it's great to start your day just focusing yourself. I did it 2x/day when I first got it, but I've kind of gotten out of it - I need to start doing it again! I have a lot of lower back pain, especially in the a.m., and I will stretch some while I'm listening to it (I get easily bored!!). If you need some help meditating, I would recommend this book. I have only listened to one other similar book and it was much more boring than this one. I only gave 4 stars because it does get a little repetitive, but really good, otherwise!

Absolutely wonderful!

This is a rich, wonderful, deep immersion in meditation and being. It is beautifully narrated in a peaceful tone, with gentle, soothing background music. I have read nearly everything by Eckhart Tolle, Jon Kabat-Zin, Thich Nhat Hahn and Shinzen Young, and have been searching for the perfect implementation of their shared principles. This is the very best in guided meditation I have found. I have enjoyed Jon Kabat-Zin's guided mindfulness meditation, Shinzen Young's guided meditations, and the guided meditations of Meditation Oasis. This is, for me, deeper and more beautiful than any I have experienced. This is a program of two hours that contains several guided meditations, all of which complement one another, and all of which I plan to include in my daily meditations. At last I feel I can stop looking for the programmed meditation that I have been seeking. If you have been looking for a teacher or program for you meditation practice, this is certainly worth trying.

Life Changing Meditation

I have done this meditation for over 7 years. I LOVE IT EVERY LISTENING! If I can only have one guided meditation to do for the rest of my days, this one is it.

Asleep in 15 minutes

And that's a good thing! I listen to the PM meditation at night and I'm out in no time. Doesn't matter how wired I am, 15 minutes seems to do the trick for me. The techniques described are good but the narrator seals the deal with her soothing voice. I've listened to similar meditation books and this one's my favorite.

Not the way to listen to this book

I'm disappointed with my purchase - not because of the content of the audiobook or the presenter - both are excellent. The audiobook/cd is actually 8 different meditations. 4 morning meditations and 4 evening meditations.

Unfortunately I didn't realize until after purchasing that there was no way to easily select which meditation to listen to. I was expecting a track format. Yes, I can select next chapter, but I was expecting to be able to identify the chapters, by title, and select the chapter I wished to listen to.

Although it's more expensive I recommend either buying the CD version from Amazon or SoundsTrue or purchasing and downloading directly from SoundsTrue.
