Throw a rock into the water and you know there will be ripples. But in deep water you have no idea where the rock will land, and you don't know how many ripples your ill considered throw will make, nor what effect they will have. My actions in starting an interspecies fighting tournament has had unforeseen outcomes, and the export of human culture, as well as human diplomatic efforts, has only made things more chaotic. Add to that some disappearances, lost colonies, missing ships, and some very nervous prey evolved civilizations, and you have a recipe for disaster. And so, once more into ...

You can't get too comfortable in this Universe, not anywhere, really. Every time you do, it has a way of shaking things up. In this volume, I, Bailey Walker, student of humanity, alien entrepreneur, and... who am I kidding? Fauve Walker got the worst kind of attention, along with the rest of her family. Story
Time marches on, life continues, the world spins, the uncaring Universe never noticed when one little dot stopped moving, nor one young girl got older, one family was wounded, or one confused and struggling alien tried to make sense of everything going on around him. I wish I could say all of my time on Earth was easy, a joyful time filled with light and games and happiness. But the reason all of those times where life was marvelous shone so brightly is precisely because there was shadow too. Some darker than others, I admit. What can anyone say about meeting a sibling you've forgotten that you even have? What do you say when they come to you for help? I didn't have any idea, that's for sure. Bau's arrival so soon after my recent victory in securing a long term stay on Earth, was nothing if not disruptive. Or so I thought at the time, but I had no idea how right I really was, 'disruptive' did not begin to cover it. Chaotic? Mad? Dangerous? All seemed better words. Bau's plea for help was not for her, but for 'her humans'. The surviving remnants of the people who once lived in Chicago, a forgotten people who ...

Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Just when I thought I was safe from deportation, I wasn't. Earth wasn't looking to get rid of me. My homeworld wasn't trying to pull me back. But of course there is no force on Earth or Dlamias that is quite like the power of angry academics on the loneliest planet. The center of learning and the symbol of a peace and unity that was more fragile than anyone wanted to admit...and I... their student, had proved myself a disruptive element, shaking the table on which a delicate house of cards sat that might tumble at any moment. I had to prove my worth, the value of my work, and that adding a ...

What a great series!
Usually sci fi books are full of fighting and wars .There're not many about peoples lives. This are the stories I like best .So this is my kind of book. A great book the end of a great series. I enjoy all 8 of them.

A Great Story
I listened to the entire series and I enjoyed it. I came across the story on an HFY video on YouTube and found the books here. The narration got better over time. This last book was the best. This does not replace a great human narrator but it was sufficient and I appreciate that the books were narrated so quickly. I can remember having Alexa read my Kindle books to me and that was pretty bad. This was so much better. Overall the story was a great concept and truly inciteful. There were many things to dissect from human behavior to philosophy to morality. It was a good set of books to step out of ourselves and reflect on where we are and have hope for a future of what we could be. The concept of hope is even given much consideration in the books. It's a slice of life with many things to ponder and some good sci-fi topics. Give it a listen and enjoy.

It was a journey
Well... I have not, and don't know if I will, rated the others in the series as I listened to the whole series back to back in less then a week. the story wasn't perfect because if it was it would have been worse for it. This is by far one of my favorite series I have ever listened too, and I am so glad I listened to the first chapter on Youtube, and that lead me to find i, and the rest of the series,t here. My one and only complaint is that it ended, but it was the best ending in my opinion. And it makes me hope, likely after my lifetime, that something similar happens in the future. (Hopefully without World War 3)
